Summary

KYIV, Nov 21 (Reuters) - President Volodymyr Zelenskiy appealed to Ukrainians for unity on Friday and vowed he would never betray Ukraine, in a solemn address to the nation after the United States presented Kyiv with a peace plan that endorses key Russian demands.

Speaking in the street outside his office, a location he uses only rarely for major addresses, Zelenskiy said Ukraine was trying to preserve its freedom while retaining the support of its most important ally.

"Now is one of the most difficult moments of our history. Now, the pressure on Ukraine is one of the heaviest. Now, Ukraine can face a very difficult choice — either losing dignity or risk losing a major partner," he said.

"I will fight 24/7 to ensure that at least two points in the plan are not overlooked – the dignity and freedom of Ukrainians," Zelenskiy said.

Washington has presented Kyiv with a 28-point plan, which calls for Ukraine to cede territory, accept limits to its military and renounce ambitions to join NATO.

Two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters that Washington has given Ukraine a week to accept the framework.

The United States had threatened to cut off intelligence sharing and weapons supplies for Ukraine if it does not accept the deal, the sources said, speaking on condition of anonymity to disclose the contents of private meetings. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

A U.S. military delegation met Zelenskiy in Kyiv on Thursday. The U.S. ambassador and the army public affairs chief travelling...

He betrays his country every time he and his cronies take millions out of the aid payments that Western countries make to the Ukraine.

So he’s supposed to concede territory to Russia that they haven’t conquered...

...give up his primary defensive line against Russian invasion

...limit the number in his military

...not be allowed to join NATO.

In other words, surrender and wait for the next Russian invasion and eventually be subjective to their Russian overlords.

It may be the best that he can get, but those who are cheering for Russia are sick people.

First Soviet-Ukrainian War (1917–1918): A conflict following the collapse of the Russian Empire where the Ukrainian People’s Republic fought against the Russian Soviet Republic for control of Ukraine.
Soviet-Ukrainian War (1919–1921): The Bolsheviks, or Russian Red Army, eventually conquered Ukraine, leading to the establishment of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic.
UIA Resistance (1944–1960): The Ukrainian Insurgent Army continued to resist Soviet rule after World War II, but the Soviet victory ended this resistance.
Russo-Ukrainian War (2014–present): This conflict began with Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014 and the war in Donbas, and escalated into a full-scale invasion in 2022. The war is ongoing.

Well maybe if all those fighting-age Ukrainian men hiding out in Poland return and fight, maybe they’d have a chance.

little z.
What a pain, just like Vlad the Invader.

Trump is trying to both a giant favor, neither side get it.

My advice to little z is hold a vote, let your people decide if they continue with the war or they make a deal.

This most likely will not be accepted either by Ukraine or the EU.

That guves us the chance to get out of NATO and deal with Euro nations independently.

Then negotiate trade deals to go into Siberia for E & D of natural resources...the Pacific Rim. Siberia is Asian Russia.

That drives a wedge in between China, who think they own and control the Pacific Rim, and Russia.

Far easier to ship resources across the Pacific to here than to deal with shipping them cross the black sea, through the straits at Turkey, cross the Med, cross the Atlantic, to here.

I will support president Trump no matter what he ultimately decides. Placing limits on Ukraine’s future military is madness, as is giving Russia the fortresses that will allow it to simply launch a new Invasion once Trump leaves office.
And it appears Ukraine will reject this in any events so we’ll just have to see what happens next.
It’s really a shame because Trump pretty much holds all the cards against Russia but he has the stream of better relations. Let’s take a look at North Korea and recognize that stuff just doesn’t work because dictators can’t really work with the West it would mean their downfall.

They will agree or they will cease to exist.

Aspiring nations must meet certain political, economic, and military standards, as outlined in the 1995 Study on Enlargement. These standards include having a functioning democratic system. They are not qualified to be part of NATO.
