US pushes Ukraine to sign peace deal by Thanksgiving — or lose intel, weapons access: report
New York Post ^ | Nov. 21, 2025 | Samuel Chamberlain

The Trump administration is insisting that Ukraine’s government agree to a much-criticized plan to end Russia’s invasion by the Thanksgiving holiday — or it will cut off intelligence sharing and shipments of weapons to the beleaguered European nation, according to a new report.

The 28-point plan, details of which were reported by The Post on Thursday, was presented to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky by Army Secretary Dan Driscoll.

Reuters reported Friday that Kyiv has come under greater pressure from Washington to sign on to the deal than at any point in the 33-month-old conflict.

The framework calls for US recognition of the entire eastern Donbas region — which has been under attack by Moscow for 11 years — as Russian territory, while battle lines will be frozen in two other war-torn regions, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.

Most controversially, Ukraine would have to limit its armed forces to 600,000 troops, enshrine permanent neutrality by pledging never to join NATO, and codify that ban in its own charter.

NATO, in turn, would have to promise not to station troops in Ukraine — though European fighter jets would be based in neighboring Poland.

“They want to stop the war and want Ukraine to pay the price,” one source described the plan to Reuters, while a European official called the framework “quite concerning” to the Associated Press.

“$100 billion in frozen Russian assets will be invested in US-led efforts to rebuild and invest in Ukraine”

Expect a ‘nyet’.

We should NEVER have given Ukraine one thin dime. It's a corrupt hellhole that gives jobs to 'the elites' drug addicted whore monger sons and launders the money of European elites. Let them support the ZMan.

Trump's doing them a favor even trying to broker a deal.

No more money to liberal/commie hellholes. NOT A DIME. And they can rebuild their own country - maybe Biden's son and the sons of the 'elites' can run the operatioin for them... ON THEIR OWN DIMES NOT ON OURS

This plan seems to have the blessing of Russia already. The only “nyet” is coming from Ukraine so far. I trust Trump will put the right kind of pressure on them to agree.

“They want to stop the war and want Ukraine to pay the price”

I think whatever anonymous coward said that, has it backwards.

Trump wants to stop the war and STOP Ukraine from paying the price of a failed Western war strategy vs Russia.

Over a million dead and crippled is the price Ukraine already paid.
The inevitable outcome if this continues, is finally being acknowledged by the US establishment and increasingly, by the Ukrainians.

If Russia is willing to divide Kherson and Zaporozhye, Zelensky should take the deal!

Russia invades Ukraine. Somehow Ukraine is the bad buy. The terms of peace are that Ukraine should position themselves to allow for Russia to invade them again in the future.

It’s a nutso world at times.

I doubt Zelensky will accept the peace deal.
So death and carnage will continue.

Some of the deal is alright, but hang on -

1. Ukraine is being ordered to hand over a huge slice of territory to Russia that Russia wasn’t even able to grab temporarily, let alone actually occupy in four years of fighting. Yet Russia isn’t even being asked nicely to drop its aspirations to soldier on all the way down to Odessa when it can’t even make it past Kherson city. Make that utter contradiction make sense.

2. Ukraine is being ordered to commit suicide by changing its own constitution. At the same time, the proposal doesn’t even ask Russia to consider revisiting ITS constitution over two utterly self-harming kabuki theater gimmicks in it that Russia would be far better off tearing up. Make THAT contradiction make sense.

If Ukraine can be the only country on the planet compelled to rewrite its own constitution to deny itself self-sovereignty and its UN Charter right to self-determination, for no reason other than Russia insists on them doing that, why can’t Russia be told to tear up Putin’s counterfeit annexations of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia?

Both those regions are still majority controlled by Ukraine. Russian TV even showed those two referenda (conducted only in areas where Russian soldiers were present) were going so far in the wrong direction for Moscow, Russia’s “officials” started throwing empty ballot sheets onto the “Da!” pile - one doing it right in front of a Russian TV news crew so there’s five minutes of footage of the ballot being shamelessly stuffed in Russia’s favor. The referenda in Kherson and Zaporizhzia were so obviously fake - faker than a tranny’s fanny* fake - that even Russian state television can’t say they were legit with a straight face.

All Putin has to do to end the unintended consequences of that Kabuki Theater is pretend to be magnanimous in victory, “cede” those Oblasts back to Ukraine, and admit the gimmick of having the unelected, unpopular Gauleiters of those regions ceremonially signing their oblasts over to Russia were done purely for show.

But this deal doesn’t even ask him to consider it. And for that reason, the entirety of the proposal comes across as if Moscow’s most ardent Stalin-rehabilitating maximalist fantasists wrote it, rather than the Americans.

For that reason, this proposal isn’t going to be signed by Ukraine, and Europe is unlikely to back it. If Trump’s really hell-bent on peace at any cost, then perhaps he should just stop dancing around the problem, go the whole hog, and invoke the NATO exit process.

Trump wants to save a buck, Trump wants EU-NATO to pay for its own defense, and EU-NATO wants allies it can actually rely on. Now, stick THAT into a Ukraine peace deal and suddenly it becomes far more attractive.

1. The USA will leave NATO, IF
2. Russia abandons its retarded objections to Ukraine joining the EU and/or EU-NATO; and
3. Ukraine relinquishes its title to Crimea and Donbas in return for Russia relinquishing its claims over Kherson and Zaporizhizhia.

* The slang is from 1830s Britain, where “fanny” is the FRONT bottom (lady bits), and Fanny was a character in “Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure”, hence the reference. What Americans call “fanny packs” in Europe are more likely to be worn with the zipped compartment at the side or the front, because only an utter pillock would wear it the other way round allowing any old thief to unzip it without you seeing them doing it.

We still don’t know how you colonials ever managed to get “fanny” so completely back to front.

Every day this goes on is just a waste of more lives and treasure. That’s the problem with war, there’s no referee to stop the fight when one side is getting slaughtered and is too stupid to surrender.

There is a perspective out there that this constitutes Ukraine surrender.

The other perspective is this is the best it will get. They can hang on and go longer and lose more territory especially in the south. If you look at the details of the plan the line of contact determines territory in the south as opposed to the entirety of the oblasts in the North. As that line of contact moves, Ukraine loses more and more, particularly towards Odessa. There is rather a lot of talk about that Russia from day 1 pursued their approach as they have to 1) minimize casualties and 2) Avoid a blitzkrieg explosive advance that “forces” a NATO response. The boiling frog choice.

But that doesn’t really matter now, given this plan.

The really big sticking point in the overall 28 points could very well evolve to have nothing to do with territory. The plan says that the $100 billion in frozen Russian assets will get used **by the United States to rebuild** (which means Bechtel and other US construction firms). But that particular paragraph also specifies that the EU must ante up an additional $100 billion. If it does not the plan would fail. I would presume that this would be arranged so that those Russian assets that are frozen will be moved out of Euroclear to a US holding escrow at JPM or BoA or something. If then Europe does NOT ante up the required $100 billion, the United States could and properly would return those frozen assets to Russia. This would overall force Europe to come up with the money.

It might be Witkoff that deserves the Nobel Peace prize. This guy has been working on this with the Russian sovereign wealth fund guy since February, as opposed to Kellogg who has spent all of that time traveling to Ukraine to secure more grants for his daughter’s NGO.

The Western War strategy has been to defend Ukraine against the invasion by Putin. And Putin is not doing that well. He is about to call up the reserves because his army is decreasing by about 1,000 men by day.

Gas is rare at the pump now in Russia. What happened to the Black Sea fleet.

Oh and BTW, $100B in assets . . . that’s about 14 months of Russian oil export (just oil, not even gas) at $60/barrel. The gas to China is frosting on that cake. (Maybe 15 months if you want to fund the victory parades/parties)

In other words, that stolen $100B is replaced somewhat instantly without even asking the Russian central bank to print up more.

Maybe if all those fighting-age Ukrainian men would return from Poland and actually fight, instead of waving Bandera flags at rap concerts in Warsaw, maybe we’d be more inclined to help them.

“Russia invades Ukraine. Somehow Ukraine is the bad buy.”

NATO is the bad guy, it used Ukraine to goad Russia into a war Russia believes is for its survival.

The citizens of Ukraine are being used as cannon fodder for NATO’s wishes to destroy Russia. Left alone, this war would never have happened because Ukraine wouldn’t have been an existential threat. Ukraine has been destroyed by NATO and the destruction and death will continue until Ukraine surrenders. NATO ‘misunderestimated’ NATO, to steal a George Bush-ism.

Oh and another by the way. Yes, Ukraine and Europe were not involved this plan’s drafting.

You know who else wasn’t? Lindsey Graham. He just did his golf event with the President, who clearly said not a word of it to him.
