Sen. Fetterman to Be Primaried in 2028
Newsmax ^ | Thursday, 20 November 2025 | Solange Reyner

The Pennsylvania Working Families Party says it will support a primary challenger against Democrat Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman in 2028.

"We're primarying John Fetterman. Last week, Fetterman once again sold out working Pennsylvanians. He was the deciding vote for a Republican budget bill that will strip healthcare from over 400,000 Pennsylvanians. We deserve real working-class leadership in the U.S. Senate, not a Trump-enabling Democrat," the group said in a social media post.

"We're training potential candidates, recruiting volunteers, and soliciting donations to help us defeat him," it added.

The party has not yet fielded a candidate.

Fetterman has, on occasion, voted with Republicans and taken stances that differ from many in his own party. He recently joined Republicans to help push a funding bill during the record 43-day government shutdown, a move that drew criticism from Democrats.

"After 40 days as a consistent voice against shutting our government down, I voted YES for the 15th time to REOPEN," Fetterman said in a statement on his vote.

"I'm sorry to our military, SNAP recipients, [government] workers and Capitol Police who haven't been paid in weeks. It should've never come to this. This was a failure."

The legislative package left out any clear resolution on the expiring Affordable Care Act tax credits that have made private health insurance less costly for millions of Americans.

Republicans are not in the least game-ready for midterms according to Scott Presler who got the vote out in PA last cycle.

The current leadership seems very underwhelming. Totally useless in the most recent elections. If republicans don’t make a change soon, 2026 could get ugly.

The leadership now, no way appeals to women, young people, etc.

Fetterman should just switch parties and make it official.

No. We need a Manchurian democrat to run on our behalf. A guy or gal that talks far left and only needs to support us at the few critical times when the rubber meets the road. It’s what Fetterman does sometimes. All it takes is a good liar on our side. Think-those seats are food for 6 years-bingo!

Pennsylvania Ping!

Please ping me with articles of interest.

FReepmail me to be added to the list.

If that threat comes to fruition I propose that we engage in what the late great Rush Limbaugh called "OPERATION CHAOS" and change registration to "D" for the Primary.

The Pennsylvania Presidential Primary is so late in the cycle that it is largely irrelevant so we can do the most good by voting to keep Fetterman!

2028 is a long time from now in the political sense.
A lot can happen. He may be the Dems best bet by then, surrounded by the Progressive Wing, each one wanting to
out AOC-AOC.

It may be similar to all those years everyone expect for Senator John Manchin to switch parties. But he never did, Manchin seemed to relish being offered special agreements for his vote, by the desperados of that moment.

Three years is an eternity in politics.

Just think three years ago, it looked like Trump was going to prison with no chance of even running again, much less winning in a landslide.

Between now and ‘28 there’s going to be scandal after scandal after scandal implicating the entire democrat leadership.
Democrat connections to Epstein is only the beginning.
How many dems are taking bribes from drug cartels?
How many are taking illegal money from foreign sources?
How many have committed treason?

I think President Trump is going to unleash an avalanche of devastating info about all of them, and Fetterman won’t be one of them.
If he intends to run again, he’ll win.

IMHO

I misjudged Fetterman.

Im the first to admit it.

He needs to realize whi his friends are versus his enemies.

We ALL might need to do that, after MTG and Massie.

Sen Fetterman is currently a Democrat. He cannot be primaried by the Pennsylvania Working Families Party. Now they might find a candidate to run as a Democrat, but I suspect the PA dem establishment will crush that candidate.

2028 is 3 years away. Three years before Susan Collins last campaign, dems were all up in arms about her and raised gobs of cash to defeat her. Three years later she crushed their candidate with 52% of the vote. The dem only got 42% as a third person took the other 8%

First, I am shocked by how many FReepers would accept this turd to be their candidate.

Fetterman is a Democrat and votes 97% with the communists. Yes, he splits occasionally from them, but he still supports the vast majority of DNC policy.

Second, Pennsylvania has a horrible track record of replacing incumbents in a primary. The other party needs to put up a great candidate and the incumbent must make a major stumble.

I predict that the Democrats will cause Fetterman to develop a health issue that will prevent him from running again.

Time for Fetterman to switch parties. He just doesn’t fit with the Democrats of today. He’s sane and reasonable.
