Inside the twisted world of Nick Fuentes’ young edgelord fans who repeat his hate speech ‘like a mantra’
The New York Post ^ | November 19, 2025 | Rikki Schlott

After the Heritage Foundation defended Carlson’s interview, internal messages at the conservative think tank showed staffers were outraged by the decision. One employee wrote, “Talking with some of the interns I think there are a growing number of them who actually agree [with him].”

Conservative writer Rod Dreher corroborated on his Substack, “I am told by someone in a position to know that something like 30 to 40 percent of DC GOP staffers under the age of 30 are Groypers.”

While Republican politicians like JD Vance and Ted Cruz have distanced themselves from the podcaster, his influence with the next generation of right-wingers keeps growing — and the backlash against him only looks to be giving him fuel.

In a world full of pearl-clutching teachers and suffocating wokeness, a grassroots ascendance of edge-lording kids was surely inevitable.

Until young people no longer feel like they can’t say what they really mean, some will resort to saying what they don’t really mean just to get a rise.

I have mixed feelings about the Fuentes controversy, and Fuentes himself. His critics are correct in that he really doesn't like most Jews, and doesn't edit himself - in any way - regarding them. He despises the Israel lobby and the influence it has over our politicians. He sees the Israeli government a godless criminal mafia, and what it did in Gaza as a crime against humanity. He says many things - a la Howard Stern on steroids - obviously to be performative... just because we're told not to say them. Many of these performative statements, along with those said in sincerity, have been used against him. He doesn't seem to care.

Fuentes started out as a nobody, an 18 year old college freshman, mainstream conservative with a few hundred followers when, around 10 years ago, he tweeted Ben Shapiro - "I've never seen anything on the Daily Wire that's actually critical of Israel." That was all it took. Shapiro fumed, accusing him of antisemitism and, to shorten a long story, began what Fuentes calls a "ceaseless attack," finding himself at the wrong end of a ruination campaign. He was eventually forced out of Boston College, de-platformed and even added to the no-fly list - basically blacklisted and crushed, unable to get an education, make a living or have an internet presence.

One thing I will say is that Americans do not like to be told what they can or can't say, or who they can or can't befriend or listen to - by anyone. They've grown to despise cancel culture. Speaking freely is our birthright. Many also feel that Israel has no special status above any other nation - it is not beyond criticism or reproach. You cannot hold the proverbial knife to our throats, demanding "go along/get along or else." That's not how this country works.

Shapiro made a huge mistake when he used his significant haymaker to go after some no-name college freshman. He and those like him made the same mistake after the recent Carlson interview. Now, Fuentes is everywhere - do a Google search. He's back from the dead with a vengeance.

The lesson hasn't been learned - Shapiro, Levin et al, are not only targeting Fuentes, once again, they now have a long list of commentators to smash - including Carlson, Owens and even the long standing, Israel defending Heritage Foundation.

At a recent Republican Jewish Coalition conference, Levin publicly bragged about the power to ruin. "What do you mean we don't cancel people... we cancelled Pat Buchanan, we cancelled the John Birch Society, we cancelled Joe Sobran." Quoted in a recent Politico article, he also seeks the heads of Steve Bannon, Alex Jones and even Israel-booster Megyn Kelly: "I also want you to be thinking of the fascists and neo-fascists who I've been exposing as thoroughly as possible. I want you to be thinking about Fuentes and Bannon and Alex Jones and Tucker and their supporters who give them a free ride, the Megyn Kellys of the world and those people."

It seems Shapiro, Levin and others think they can use their influence and platforms to crush anyone at will. Now they propose to crush en masse. Perhaps they've gotten too used to painting the scarlet letter on anyone and everyone they deem unacceptable, as it has worked out so well in the past.

That model has run its course. They've gone too far. Jumped off a cliff, into the "deep end." They no longer discern between good guys and bad - bad now being anyone not adopting their worldview or refusing to comply with their unreasonable demands.

People, I dare say a majority over the entire left-right spectrum, are fed up with it.

But the thing is, do people really think the world is better off if the Jews are driven out of Israel?

Fuentes is an aberration on the right. The left is full of racial haters. It's their norm.

But in "chase the shiny object" fashion, Fuentes is the one getting the attention.

Fuentes is going to be our downfall. He needs to be nipped in the bud.

Unfortunately, most movements that are against Globalization and Multi-Culturalism, get taken over by the anti-semites over time, and ultimately brings about their downfall.

That is an absolutely damning admission ...

The self proclaimed “incel” Fuentes didn’t vote for Trump. He’d rather have Biden.

Fuentes is a straw man

He wouldn’t be known by anyone, unless certain people raised him up specifically for the purpose of attacking him.

He will eventually be the “Emmanuel Goldstein” of the left.

So he is sort of a reverse typical liberal. But liberals agree with him about Israel. It’s all so confusing. Who are we supposed to hate besides JK Rowling? I can’t keep up without a scorecard.

Wasn’t aware of this background.

Thanks for hipping This Guy.

Until young people no longer feel like they can’t say what they really mean, some will resort to saying what they don’t really mean just to get a rise.

That is gibberish.

If they feel free to say highly offensive things that they (supposedly...) "don't really mean", then why wouldn't they feel free to say the lessoffensive things that they (supposedly) do really mean? It's a nonsense claim.

They say those highly offensive things about Jews, Hitler, etc., because they do actually believe them. Regardless of what excuses for those people this apologist author pulls out of his sphincter.

You say something, you own it. End of story.

I know its not possible, but play along.

If Hitler became alive again today, what percentage of urinalists would be clamoring to interview him?

What percentage of people would watch such an interview, not because of him being alive again, but to see what he had to say.

EVEN JOOS would watch!

As despicable a person as he is, Nick Fuentes is not Hitler.

Reread post #1.

They already tried cancelling and banning him—threw everything at him.

How many Freepers would have had the courage to keep plugging away after that kind of abuse?

Jim Robinson—for sure.

Anybody else?

I have my doubts.

“It’s a dumb thing to admit.”

You are missing the headline here.

Levin and Shapiro are among those who do not share our values of free speech and fair play.

To an extent this is self-cleansing. Cleaning up an aberration within your larger group.

Like the Catholic church ought to do by getting rid of its pedos and practicing gays.

That said, this is being orchestrated by the wokeies — to destroy MAGA.
