Migrants thought they were in court for a routine hearing. Instead, it was a deportation trap

The government lawyer knew what was coming as she stood inside a courtroom and texted an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent waiting in a corridor a few feet away.

“I can’t do this,” the lawyer said in a text message as she looked at her docket of cases. “This is a new emotional load.”

“I understand,” the agent responded. “Hopefully we meet again in a better situation.”

Nearby, a Cuban man who had lived in the United States for years stepped from an elevator and into the courtroom where the government lawyer was waiting for what the man thought was a routine hearing.

The man was doing what the law required, and brought along his wife, a legal resident, and their 7-month-old infant.

Then the lawyer quickly moved to have the man’s asylum claim dismissed and a judge agreed, making the man eligible for “expedited removal.”......

Courthouse arrests coordinated days in advance

In a court system with a backlog of about 3.8 million asylum cases, families have been torn apart and lives upended. Due process seemingly is an afterthought......

‘I want to go back to my country’

The harsh tactics have had one effect the administration wants: Voluntary migrant departures have soared, with more than 14,000 people seeking court permission to self-deport in the first eight months of 2025, according to federal data collected by Mobile Pathways, a San Francisco-based nonprofit that pushes for transparency in migration proceedings. That is more than the previous five years combined. The number is almost certainly an undercount because most migrants do not withdraw their asylum claim before self-deporting.

At immigration court in Tacoma, Washington, the detainees came up one after the other with the same plea.

“I want to go back to my country,” a Venezuelan man told Judge Theresa Scala.

‘I want to go back to my country’

Sounds like a perfect next hit from Jason Aldean!

“Nearby, a Cuban man who had lived in the United States for years...”

How many years? Two? Twenty?

Words matter.

Why do they ALWAYS fly their country’s flag if they do NOT want to go back there? Oh, that’s right, BECAUSE WE GIVE THEM MONEY and FREEBIES. You don’t think they actually CARE abt America do you?

As far as these PAID rioters, If Trump were to tell them that their WELFARE CONTRACT will end if we catch them. Cancel their welfare benefits and they will stop rioting immediately. Soros only pays for a while but if they lose their SNAP, Sec 8, and Medicare they will be unable to live the way they live now.

Even these old hippies. Imagine no more SS or Medicare. Tey really do not care abt the illegals. They just want Sosor’s $.

This sounds fine. DO it.
And, don’t let the crybaby lefturds dissuade us.
It’s fine to feel some compassion, but it should never be a blindfold. They are here as a result of breaking US law. Deportation is the least onerous resolution.

I so agree with that reward system. It needs to be applied to the antifa grunts as well. Cuff them, stuff them, record their personal info and then forbid them from every Federal benefit. You know they are collecting everything that comes from being unemployed.

The are classified as terrorists, so TREAT them like terrorists.

Send them to Buekele's prison too for all I care.

I have no more mercy on illegals than I would a burglar breaking into my house.

More than half of illegal households are on welfare/snap/section 8/medicaid. They are stealing.

Get them out, now.

“...families have been torn apart and lives upended...”

The illegal scumbag can always take the “family” back to country of origin. We are under NO obligation to keep them together here.

Kick out, throw back, deport EVERY illegal alien, ALL of them, no exceptions. The democrats will have to find other ways to get illegal votes. /spit

Well their asylum claims are truly fake or they would not be requesting to go home. Asylum is for when it is unsafe for you to be in your country.

Soared, huh? What is that, about half a percent of illegals? Every word AP prints is loaded.

What did he do to DESERVE this type of sting? No doubt something far worse than the media would like us to know about, particularly since Cubans, unlike people from just about every other country, have an EXPRESS RIGHT to stay in the US if they make it to US soil.

Why didn’t they stay home and not go. The “media” is loaded with freeloader, illegal alien sob stories how they have to send the kids out to buy their beer and smokes because the big people are afraid Federal, Government employees might see them and wonder why they aren’t mowing lawns or standing outside of Home Depot waiting for job offers when they aren’t inside lifting tools and stuff.
