The backstory: Barco's family fled Cuba as refugees, and they first went to Venezuela, where Barco was born. He came to U.S. legally with his family when he was four. and enlisted in the U.S. Army at 17.
During his time in the Army, Barco was deployed to Iraq twice. He applied for citizenship while overseas, but was told his paperwork was lost.
After he was severely injured in an explosion that involved an improvised explosive device (IED), Barco received a Purple Heart.
...
Dig deeper: When Barco returned to the U.S. from his overseas stint, he began suffering from PTSD, and spent years in prison on attempted murder charges for firing a gun into a group of teenagers at a house party in Colorado Springs, Colo. in 2008, and hitting a 19-year-old pregnant woman in the leg.
Barco was sentenced to 52 years in prison, but was released after 15. When he left prison one day after President Trump's inauguration. ICE agents were waiting. He was ultimately sent on Veterans Day to the ICE facility in Florence.
After fighting his deportation several times, friends, family, and activists say Barco finally gave up.
...
We have reached out to immigration enforcement for a statement on Barco’s deportation. They responded with a statement that reads, in part:
"Barco was released after serving time for a conviction of attempted murder, extreme indifference, and felony menacing with a real or simulated weapon. He was removed to Nogales, Mexico this morning, Nov. 14."

Being sentenced to 52 years in prison for shooting into a group of non-combatants in America nullifies the PH. He needs to quit his tantrum and take his azz home to one of his other birthplaces. America isn’t one. BTW. Nobody asked the boy to join the Army.
As a veteran from a family PACKED with vets, including several D Day veterans…I don’t know anyone who started shooting at people after they got home. I’ve been shot at in combat - by pee poor shots, thank God - but never have shot at civilians!
Same here.
A guy who came here legally and joined the armed forces and was wounded in combat should have been granted citizenship upon separation from the military.
One has to read WAY down in the articles to see he spent 15 years in prison.
And have it revoked after going around shooting people for no reason?
Benedict Arnold was a great war hero. But then we changed our minds.
If he was in the USA illegally he should be deported.
The shooting has nothing to do with what we should have done in the first place.
For all we know his being screwed around about citizenship until he gave up could have exacerbated his PTSD. Which he got for two combat tours and being blown up.
He was trying to do it right. I give him credit for that.
Adios Colorado man
Keyword there being "was".
And as you probably know, one "aw shit" wipes out a hundred "that a boy"s.
If it was a bar fight or something minor I would probably be more forgiving.
This is one case I would have to look into a bit more. I will say on the surface it does look like there were some major fails by the military, by Immigration and possibly by the VA.
Does that balance out his shooting into a crowd?
Maybe. Depends on what the crowd was doing.
The lier is a monument to his wounded leg in New York State, it reads: “ to the most brilliant solder of the Contenental Army.” No named mentioned.
“One has to read WAY down in the articles to see he spent 15 years in prison.”
And 52 years was the sentence.
It is situated in an area saturated with prisons, from lower security private prisons, to the pervert prison, to the Big House.
I have delivered freight to all of them many times over the years, and when talking security, none come close to the ICE prison. They have a sally port for full inspection, everything opened, mirrors on sticks, the whole nine yards.
The driver is required to leave his DL at the gate, and a minder rides along for the delivery.
That place made me even more nervous than the women's prison off I-17.
Any chance to deporting John sKerry? He has two purple hearts that dubiously rec’d. Still waiting for him to release his military records. Suspect will be waiting until the end of time for that to occur.
It means doing something incredibly stupid that seriously endangered other peoples' lives and not giving a XXXX about the consequences.
