Donald Trump has put the BBC 'on notice' that he plans to sue them for $1billion (£760million) after they doctored his speech and broadcast it on Panorama, it has been revealed today.

I had no idea U.S. taxpayers (via USAID) had been propping up the BBC.

Why are we sending our tax money for foreign anti-American propaganda??

Better do it. They dont have the bogus restriction on defamation actions by public officials of New York Times v Sullivan

Trump would never win a defamation lawsuit in England. They hate him as much as our own commies hate him.

Awesome, although he should sue for a lot more.

But remember: Money is fungible.

Mr. President, end the Beeb, and most of the British public will love you forever.

From 2014, forgive me for the source...

A day in court for non-payment of the TV licence: ‘What do they want us to do, kill ourselves?’ Almost 200,000 people were prosecuted last year for failing to buy a television licence. Should those who can’t afford to pay their bills be criminalised in this way?

It will be interesting to see what happens, since UK defamation laws are much broader than in the US.

Are you kidding? In England people require a license to watch TV? WHAT???

I was just watching this today, a man being arrested in England for calling someone else a muppet!!

England is truly a tyranny now isn’t it.

The UK’s Deep State isn’t worried about the outcome.

They can fix that.

They’re worried about discovery.

And since would be a civil case, the Hague Service Convention applies.

As I understand it, it has always been this way. It is how the BBC gets funded. And before TV you had to have a license to listen to radio. I believe the same is true in Ireland.

“Trump would never win a defamation lawsuit in England.”

The law is an entirely different beast in the UK as compared to here. Defamation is dead serious business in the UK and their courts are heavily biased against it regardless of who the plaintiff/defendant happens to be.
