Israel to seize vessels used in Gaza-bound flotilla

The State Prosecutor's Office has submitted a request to the Haifa District Court to permanently confiscate 50 foreign vessels that attempted to breach the maritime blockade imposed by Israel on the Gaza Strip, as part of the "Sumud Flotilla."

According to the petition, a significant number of the vessels were owned by the Hamas terror organization. The request is based on international law, which grants states the right to seize vessels attempting to violate a maritime blockade, and gives courts the authority to order their confiscation.

The State argued that the "Sumud Flotilla," which arrived in the area last month, was unprecedented in its scale and planning, stating that “the vessels involved in the flotilla posed a deliberate operational challenge to the Israeli Navy, with Hamas playing a major role in its execution.”

According to the petition, 41 vessels were intercepted on Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement), with an additional nine detained about a week later. Authorities reported that the ships carried only a minimal amount of humanitarian supplies - “less than 5 tons in total” - which, the petition stressed, reveals the flotilla organizers’ true intent: to break the blockade or provoke a media spectacle.

The State further alleged that Hamas financed the flotilla, coordinated with international organizations, and purchased vessels through a front company owned by a member of PCPA, an organization established by Hamas. These actions, the State stressed, reflect serious security concerns that justify a “firm legal response” and permanent confiscation.

Israel should have confiscated the ships at the time of interception and sent all the “protesters” straight to Gaza to be the guests of the Islamic Jihad and HAMAS with no permission to return to their countries. Let them all stew in Islamic manners and courtesies.

Those protesters should be thankful that the Israelis seized the boats, not Islamists. If that were the case, not only would the ships be seized, but all passengers and crew who are non-muslim would have been sold into slavery.

the enemy invasion vessels are already in Israeli custody. going to the Israeli communist-captured courts is just a way of securing an excuse (”order”) to return them to the terrorists.

I’m really surprised they had not done that already.

It should have been done immediately, get all passengers out, detain them and then take the ships offshore and sink them.

Fingerprint and get DNA on all passengers and then charge them for the costs of the intervention, and the costs of taking the ships offshore. Find out who sponsored them and charge them as well.

Hit them where it hurt, in their (and their sponsors) wallets.

First search them with a fine-toothed comb, x-rays, radar, infrared light, lasers if it helps, and take them apart plank by plank. Like in the French Connection. They’ll find something, I have a hunch. No way this was just a photo op flotilla with little or no “humanitarian aid”. They’ve got weapons on board somewhere.
