President Trump is rejecting visas for fat people.
The Trump administration has ordered visa officers to deny immigrants who are obese or have certain health issues, in yet another instance of the president’s strange obsession with fat people.
A Thursday directive from the State Department, sent to embassies and consulates around the world, indicates that people applying for visas to the United States may be rejected if they have certain medical conditions, on the grounds that they could take up domestic health care resources.
“You must consider an applicant’s health,” the cable read. “Certain medical conditions—including, but not limited to, cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, cancers, diabetes, metabolic diseases, neurological diseases, and mental health conditions—can require hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of care.”
The announcement then goes on to mention obesity, stating that it can be connected to asthma, sleep apnea, and high blood pressure.

Health tourism is a thing.
Though I’d be inclined to let them in if they can show proof of excellent medical insurance coverage.
But Fat Wallets not a disqualifier.
A case in point, the UK.

Looks like migrants didn’t get the memo.
Funny how that works.
Yes; we’ve heard many stories about Canadians coming here for better or more timely care than they can obtain at home. I wouldn’t deny them entry if they could cover their care.
My grandfather was written off in BC, but he went to Bellingham and paid and had a great 20 years more.
I’m very grateful for the time I had with him and for the excellent work they did.
I work in a border state metro hospital. People come here, they fall apart in the er and beyond into the icu
Hospital can’t turn them away
Stroke, new diagnosis of diabetes, kidney disease then dialysis for life, amputation from the diabetes, circulation, infections, weeks of antibiotics, more stroke activity, further amputations
If there’s underlying heart disease, add that
They have no one here to take care of them when they discharge. They’re not going to work. No homeless shelter will take them
Multiply that for one hospital for one person whe never ate right no support system
Times months times years
A week yo 30 days in an ICU
Hospital staff are people hard wired to assist people in their medical needs, but everybody gets paid.
Rubio has been the biggest surprise for me when it comes to Trump’s cabinet. I really didn’t exact so much from him. He is bringing back the rule that immigrants can’t be dependent on government assistance and must be self-sufficient. That is a requirement which should never have been canceled.
The Immigrant Visa sponsor must sign an agreement to be responsible for any income based government benefit that the immigrant might receive. This is a contract that the sponsor is responsible to pay until the immigrant becomes a US citizen, accumulates 40 social security work credit or dies. HHS is supposed to enforce this but I’ve never heard of them doing that.
When my folks emigrated here, they had to pass a health exam. A country has the right to say who they want to allow in. Slightly overweight shouldn’t be a problem, though, I would think.
Good. And smarter than anyone realizes.
Fat on the brain causes cognitive function problems..fact! Check out the
Leftist protesters.. either obese or tweeker skinny.
AI Overview
Yes, excess fat, particularly abdominal fat, is linked to cognitive function problems through mechanisms like inflammation and changes in brain structure, affecting areas like executive function and memory. Excess body fat is associated with reduced gray matter volume and white matter integrity, which can accelerate brain aging and lead to cognitive deficits in both the young and old.
Mechanisms of impact
Inflammation: Obesity can cause chronic, low-grade inflammation throughout the body, including the brain, which disrupts neural circuits and impairs cognitive function. This can affect the function of brain cells and contribute to neurodegenerative diseases.
Structural brain changes: Excess fat is linked to changes in brain structure, such as reduced gray matter volume and impaired white matter integrity. These changes begin early in life and are associated with deficits in executive functions like decision-making, planning, and memory.
HPA axis dysregulation: Obesity can disrupt the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, which regulates the body’s stress response. This can lead to changes in cortisol levels, affecting the hippocampus and further impacting mood, stress, and memory.
Vascular issues: Obesity can contribute to vascular problems, which can also negatively impact brain health and cognitive function.

It was not a Trump Truth Social edict.
The YouTuber Lady Colin Campbell had a fall recently and has been posting from her hospital bed. She’s on an absolute tear about the NHS and what a lousy system it generally is.

n yet another instance of the president’s strange obsession with fat people.
- I’m not aware of any other Instance when Trump exhibited that “obsession”, whether it is “strange” is moot.
Is this for real? Trump himself is fat.
Ok...I didn’t say that.. what is your point??
IIRC New Zealand does this for potential citizens.
Or pregnant.
