Mamdani promises excellence, signals collapse
American Thinker ^ | David DeMay

Posted on 11/09/2025 2:31:17 AM PST by RoosterRedux

Zohran Mamdani, NYC’s youngest mayor at 34, swept to victory on November 4, 2025, with a viral rap and a socialist vow to make “This City Belong to You” through rent freezes and free buses. Yet this charismatic outsider, lacking the managerial scars to navigate a $100 billion budget, embodies a competence vacuum. His promise of radical excellence arrives as the rentier economy — fueled by tax loopholes and asset inflation — starves the city’s treasury, sounding the alarm of institutional collapse.

The juxtaposition is shocking, yet deeply illuminating: an administration, defined by the rise of an inexperienced elite, declares its primary mandate will be to ”Deliver Excellence.” This contrast is more than mere political hypocrisy; it marks the precise point where political rhetoric detaches from systemic reality. It is the moment the Sorcerer’s Apprentice, having lost all control over the flooding waters, tries to command them back with a simple, soaring slogan. This gap between the promise and the capacity defines the current crisis.

The Double Crisis: Competence and Capacity

To understand the seriousness of this moment, we must recognize that the new elite is confronting not one, but two simultaneous, self-inflicted crises:

1. The Competence Vacuum. As argued in “The Inexperienced Elite,” the successful political outsider today is often a product of institutional rejection, whose primary credential is his identity or his ability to disrupt the status quo, not his managerial expertise. This signals the wholesale breakdown of institutional memory. When complex governance — managing supply chains, financing infrastructure, controlling a multi-trillion-dollar bureaucracy — is delegated to leaders who lack the “boots on the ground” experience, the system naturally enters a state of managerial decline. The promise of excellence requires deep, specialized, and often dull administrative mastery; the current political environment rewards dramatic posturing instead.

I think you are correct. He thinks being mayor is just an extension of a campaign where everyone around you loves you.

He's about to get slapped with a yuuge dose of reality.

No question his behavior will be the source a lot of books and studies.

I wonder if Mamdani is like the proverbial dog that chases the car and when he finally catches it doesn’t know what to do.

Mamdani has these insane socialist ideas, he’s never held a real job, he has rich parents that have supported him his entire life, he’s very young with no real-life experience, now that he’s Mayor of the Financial Capital of the World, what will he do.

Will he be overwhelmed by the job, will he lash out when the city council refuses to go along with his agenda.

Does he have real zealots as aides that will attempt to implement his agenda 100%.

He’s full of academic socialist ideas, now the reality of governing begins, it will be interesting to see how he performs.

The Competence Vacuum.

This is a major difference between the Democrats and Republicans at present. When you look at leaders in the Trump administration, you literally have world-class entrepreneurs, experts at providing goods and services that people actually want and doing so efficiently - Trump himself, and Vance and Musk are all good examples of this.

By contrast, what competence do Democrats have? Think of their leaders. Kamala. Newsom. Schumer. AOC. Pritzker. Sanders. Pelosi. It's a laundry list of real-world incompetence. They couldn't run a burger franchise between them. While there are businesspeople who vote Democrat, there's a huge competence vacuum in the political leadership.

He is indeed the dog who finally caught the car. That's exactly what I thought the moment I found out that he had won.

Actually, though, I think a dog is wiser than Mamdani. I don't think he has any frikken idea just how far in over his head he is. It's going to be embarrassing for him and all his stupid supporters.

I hope the city burns to the ground.

All those elite White progressive women deserve pain, lots and lots of pain. They complain about how living under Republican rule is equivalent to the The Handmaid’s Tale.

If they think they had it bad before, living in a White misogynist male world, wait until they are governed by Muslim Sharia loving males.

I am going to sit back and watch the incoming train wreck. All the wailing and gnashing of teeth. It’s going to be glorious.

I once knew a guy in business who pulled every political stunt he could to move up the ladder. He didn't bother to learn the business; he just kept arranging his career to make himself look good. He wore very expensive suits, entertained important people, played golf with the bosses, and polished apples.

Then one day, he got his wish and got a huge promotion.

He was an immediate embarrassment to himself and everyone who supported him.

He lasted one month. Not only did he get fired; the guy who promoted him got the axe too.

“Does he have real zealots as aides that will attempt to implement his agenda 100%”

He is claiming his transition team will be all female. I imagine his team moving beyond that will be largely female. The same morons who’s votes won him the election. Within a year when the city is crumbling and his campaign platitudes hit reality these zealots will be largely gone as Mamdani begs competent people with managerial skills to come work for him. I’m sure the evil Soros clan will be heavily involved at some point.

SHORT VERSION, too many People believe upsetting the apple cart is a sign of leadership.

Then they stomp on the apples and tell everyone who will listen, the apples are now free.

Never thinking ahead, that the owner of the apple cart is never going to be selling apples anywhere near the town ever again.

They will then pass a city law, the apple cart guy has to ring apples back into town, or face fines and jail time.

the left is Stupidity on meth

The crashes he brings are all wanted.

Oh I agree! I can’t wait to watch. I almost hope he tries to issue mandates that women can’t color their hair or have tattoos and those that currently have them....must have them removed. Maybe only have the huge hog nose ring to hook the lead line to

That's Ok, he can get help from the long-experienced AOC.

He will constantly being firing and replacing managers for their failures to deliver his promises.

This is typical of communist dictators that we have witnessed in the 20th century. The only difference will be that there aren’t any gulags to send them too so they can’t tell the people what is going on.

He’s a figurehead like Obama, groomed to be attractive, but without any skills. Soros’ crew will be running the government.
