Republicans take stock of Newsom, a ‘Tier 1 Democrat’ after Prop 50
Politico ^ | November 6, 2025 | Alex Gangitano and Alec Hernandez

Republicans insist Gov. Gavin Newsom of California isn’t a threat to the Trump presidency. White House allies argue privately that he’s too liberal, too manicured and just too California to win a national election.

And yet: They also acknowledge this week that Newsom looks more politically formidable than at any other point in his career.

One Republican strategist said Newsom’s winning redistricting campaign in California transformed him into a top rival of Donald Trump,” while another conceded it had cemented him as a “Tier 1 Democrat.”

All the Republicans have to do in 2028 is drive around Los Angeles, Oakland, and San Francisco streaming what **** holes they have become. They can do ads interviewing Californians who have fled to Texas. There can be an ad simply showing gas prices at California gas stations and utility bills.

The Republican Party just demonstrated that they can’t defeat an avowed communist in NY and a possible political assassin in Virginia. Why on earth should I believe they can take down Newsome?

Bad election results cause the black pilled crowd to come out and tell all is doomed. The NJ and VA elections were disappointing but remember that Sears and Ciatrelli ran as moderates not MAGA and the NYC race was between the communist Mandami and a left of center Cuomo. However, the Trump Administration must learn from the defeats and focus on domestic issues. That means focusing on border control, going after communist terror groups, their funding sources, and Mexican and other crime syndicates. Antitrust laws need to be enforced to break up oligarchic control of food, finance, and medicine. People living outside the U.S. must be prevented from owning land here.

A Republican Congress can cede many of the low-income Democratic areas of California back to Mexico unless the Proposition 50 panel adopts a redistricting map prepared by the RNC.

Public employees would be working for Mexican-level salaries afterwards, unless they were fired for not being fluent in Español.

Private sector workers would find people from Ciudad de Mexico will work for less.

Section 8 vouchers would vanish.

SNAP cards would become souvenirs.

Newsome is being compared to Christian Bale in American Psycho. Personally I think he's coked up.

Winning a ballot measure in deep-blue California doesn’t prove national appeal. Prop 50’s success says more about anti-Trump sentiment than support for Newsom’s policies. Middle America isn’t likely to back the same progressive agenda that’s driving people out of California.

I suggest they start by NOT fielding a 70-year old candidate who rides the subway in a red beret and tshirt, while making the herding of stray cats a campaign issue. I'd follow that up by suggesting then NEVER urge their voters to support Coumo, a man who took full responsibility for the deaths of thousands of NY'ers infected with COVID. It's better the NY Republicans fold their tent up and stop the charade.

12 months.

You're right that he has focused too much on foreign affairs.

“The Congress shall have power to dispose of...the territory ...of the United States...”

ARTICLE IV. SECTION 3

Red states can cede some of their rural areas for federal open carry ‘bases of freedom’ which can then be made into independent countries.

You live most of your lives within a few square miles.

Each country’s treaty of friendship with the USA would bar foreign forces from the country and provide for transit rights throughout the US. Residents becoming citizens after acceptance by a citizenship board and paying a fee would become citizens with voting rights.

The constitution of each country would forever bar income, property and wealth taxation.

What about the $40 trillion in US debt? Not a problem for the new countries.

Part of the joy of living in California is paying taxes that reduce your quality of life.

If you didn’t pay the highest tax on gasoline, you would not get to experience the clogged ways that are free.

In the past I would 100% agree, today the political landscape has changed, we have a communist just elected Mayor of NYC, we had an AG elected in Virginia who dreamed of putting a bullet in the head of a Republican, killing his family and urinating on their graves.

My opinion is one of the reasons these extreme candidates get elected is the mainstream candidates from both parties have completely failed the American public and people are willing to risk on voting for something extreme because the traditional candidates have failed.

Does the republican party want to win? They just won control of Congress, The White House, and even arguably SCOTUS, but the democrats seem to be in control of the legislative agenda. As always there is a profound lack of urgency on the part of the republicans. They are just doing the bare minimum. Where is the excitement, where are the bills to secure our elections? Where is all the good legislation that we need to save the country? They seem paralyzed.

Prop 50 passing had nothing to do with our POS governor Jazz Hands, California has been a one party state since the dem goobernator Kennedy wannabe Schwartzy was elected. If anyone thought Prop 50 would be defeated they weren’t using even half of their brain. And anyone that didn’t understand that as far as California one party rule it makes no difference as to whether it passed or not.

Newsom isn’t going to run against Trump. Maybe against Vance or Rubio though.
