Congressional Republicans need to do something worthy of voter support, and the party has to sharpen its early-voting ground game.
The third time wasn’t the charm for Republican businessman and former New Jersey lawmaker Jack Ciattarelli in Tuesday’s race for the Garden State’s next governor. And Virginia didn’t elect its first black female governor.
New Jersey and Virginia remain squarely in the blue state column.
But Tuesday’s election, contrary to the left and their corporate media partners, wasn’t an early verdict on Republican President Donald Trump or a bellwether of next year’s midterms.
The Democratic National Committee proclaimed far-left Abigail Spanberger’s victory over Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears in Virginia’s race for governor “another sign that voters are rejecting Donald Trump and his Republican allies’ extreme agenda that is raising health care and utility costs and destroying jobs.”
It’s not a sign, and the agenda stuff, per usual, is dizzying political spin.
In New Jersey’s governor’s race, where Democrat Rep. Mikie Sherrill beat Republican businessman and former state lawmaker Jack Ciattarelli, NBC News reporter Bridget Bowman opined that the Democrat’s win “sends a signal” that Republicans shouldn’t expect Trump’s impressive gains in 2024 will carry over to the 2026 midterms. “Instead, the party is facing headwinds, as voters react to the president’s handling of the economy and other issues.”
Which voters are reacting? Very motivated, angry Trump-hating Democrats — in very blue states. A good many of them that would like to see the president dead.
This wasn’t a revolution or an omen. It was D.C-area leftists turning out and outnumbering unmotivated Republicans in Virginia and Dem...

Like Woody Allen once said, 90% of life is just showing up.
The GOPee is a moribund org. that is NOT out for the MAGA peeps.
Unfortunately, Republicans have a virtually infinite capacity to learn the wrong lesson from any situation.
Didn’t W-Sears also reject Trump?
Ridiculous article. All crap.
Wow, bluest of blue states elect Democrats. News at 11.
No, it’s a wake up call. We need to crawl over broken glass to vote in 27.
Interesting excuse for the voters I heard is that women don’t like the optics of roughly grabbing and handling illegals to deport them.
I guess the women voters don’t mind having themselves or their little children being pulled into vans and raped by illegals.
Sep-Oct I saw numerous “human interest” articles on the ground game of the left. I didn’t see a single article on the Republican ground game. Was there a ground game anywhere? Were voters invited/asked to go to the polls?
If there was a ground game in some places and not others, can the results be compared? How effective was it? For example I did a ground game in an area that had no ground game previously. I tripled the R vote.
Do some think a good ground game is obsolete? Are we too lazy to work for what we want and think that votes are like welfare...we deserve it without working for it?
They are Blue States. Blue States vote Democrat..
That s the way it it.
The plain and simple fact is that the Republicans can win nothing if Trump is not on the ballot. He is the main driver for conservatives - the GOP is irrelevant. Hopefully JD Vance can step up and take the mantle in 2028, when Trump isn’t running. Without Trump, right now, the GOP has no chance.
Thus, this author is clueless, rendering this article as worthless as teats on a boar hog.
“Wow, bluest of blue states elect Democrats. News at 11.”
Virginia has a Republican governor, right now. It is far from the bluest of the blue. The bluest states are: Maryland where Trump only got 34% of the vote, vermont where he got 32%, Mass where he 36%, Connecticut where he got 41%, Oregon where he got 41%. Republicans can still win in Virginia, with a good candidate, and the right conditions.
Your vote will be cancelled by ballot stuffing. DEMONRATS cheat, period!
Good post, thanks for thinking about the issue instead of posting ignorant sore loser talking points, which some on the Internet have been doing today.
Youngkin was a fluke. McAwful pissed off voters.
And you know nothing. In reality both parties have the same problems.
I think Biden also pissed of voters in that election. You can see the effects of unpopular presidents on these races.
“I think Biden also pissed of voters in that election. You can see the effects of unpopular presidents on these races.”
What you see are Blue States voting for Blue Democrats. Nothing new.
