As New York City embraced the left-wing politics of mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, voters just across the city line in Nassau County reaffirmed a starkly different vision and re-elected a President Donald Trump-backed leader.
Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman secured a second term Tuesday night, extending his tenure as the county’s first Jewish executive. Blakeman, a close ally of Trump who's worked to combat antisemitism and other crime and bolster cooperation with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), won reelection as neighboring New York City turned to a self-described Democratic socialist. Mamdani, notably, has refused to denounce the slogan "globalize the intifada."
"I just got off the phone with President Trump, and he was delighted," Blakeman told the crowd at his victory party. "And I said to the president, thank you for all you've done. We had faith in President Trump's policies, and the people of Nassau County wanted us to cooperate with ICE. They wanted to get criminals out of our county. They wanted it to be the safest county in America. Lower taxes."

Mamdani’s plan is to bankrupt New York and extort the state government into taxing people in the free counties to pay for left wing lunacy which those taxpayers don’t support.
If there’s any good news it’s as NYChitty continues to embarrass themselves, Staten Island, eastern Queens and western LI continue to get redder...
After seeing all the glowing pictures of Chairman Zo, look at who is behind him. A bunch of turd world immigrants. I predict, one of them takes him out for now being sufficiently islamic enough.
Always loved LI. But the best pizza in the world to me was in NYC. Been wanting to take the wife up there. Not anymore.
Long Island isn’t NYC. It’s ruby red over much of the island. LI and NYC both have great food. NYC has a skyline. LI has great beaches, surprisingly great nature and great people. What’s more important, a great skyline or great beaches, nature and people?
By the way, Brooklyn and most of Queens is on Long Island, but isn’t Long Island. But there are some neighborhoods of Brooklyn still which I definitely do not want to diss. And not just because of some scary eyetalians. (That’s just a joke; Crime in New York isn’t Italian, not even organized crime anymore.)
PUT UP GATES AT ALL COUNTY ENTRANCES CONNECTED TO NYC.
I'm in Nassau, and yes that's the danger. He'll get Hochal to get the rest of us in red counties to pay for Mamdani's nonsense.
First sign of that and I'm out of here.
Nassau County... isn’t that the land of the Baldwin brothers, Peggy Noonan and a young Jerry Seinfeld??
Trump sez he will send the bare minimum by law. Horse face Hochul will fund his programs through higher state taxes, the state legislature is flooded with parasites who can barely speak English and are just like him
In graduate school, the LI's were the best. "Come inside, we're having pizza and shots!"
LIke, in your face happy, 'you must come with us not taking no for da answer'.
Nassau County was hit hard by MS-13 crime wave starting in the late 1990s. They have had enough.
It would not surprise me if when you take a look at the scores of other elections at the local level, Republicans likely did that very well in areas outside of deep blue territory, such as in this instance. The media is thus giving a very distorted image of what happened by focusing exclusively on the high profile races in NJ, NYC, and elsewhere where the Dem candidate is likely to almost always win.
Unfortunately you are not correct. We got slaughtered down to the local level. Three towns in my immediate area flipped from red to blue and at the county level, the Dems had a clean sweep here. These are areas that had been Republican for decades. It sucks.
Chil out. San Antonio ain’t Mextco.
I love New York state. It’s freaking awesome.
Would like to visit again but it ain’t looking good.
I don’t get it; who said it was?
