Gen Z is cringing at the prospect of working with other Gen Z-ers, continuing a trend among some workers in which they dislike working with the younger generation, according to a new report.
An Edubirdie survey of 2,000 Gen Z-ers found that 31 percent feel they’re the most annoying to work with. That was compared to just 20 percent who said baby boomers were the worst.
Why It Matters
Gen Z has developed a reputation for being difficult to work with.
A recent Intelligent.com survey found that one in six businesses said they were hesitant to hire recent college graduates over concerns about how prepared they are for the work as well as their communication skills and professionalism. And six in 10 employers had already fired college graduates who were hired in 2024.
What To Know
In the Edubirdie survey, 14 percent of Gen Z-ers said Gen X was the most annoying, while 12 said the same about millennials. Eighty percent said they’re mistreated in the workplace and 48 percent believe they will make better bosses than their millennial counterparts.

That’s one of the reasons why I cringe at a Mamdani victory. These useful idiots are the ones backing him. I hear them on the train to and from work. They are so full of themselves that I can’t even imagine a community with any of them.
Many of the later Millennials are similar. Basically anyone born after 1985 is seriously deficient in social skills.
It’s the 40-70-year-olds who are holding this country together. They still have some emotional and intellectual tools. We’re going to be in big trouble afterwards.
Just wait until Gen “Alpha” hits the workforce.
Self-absorbed goobers.
I’m not sure if any generation has social skills anymore.
So the average age of a Millennial today is about 36–37 years old.
The thing with the Millennials is that they're woke.
Gen Z men is mostly pro-Trump.
Wait until Gen Alpha gets in the workforce. You'll see a significant difference there because they're the generation who was born when Obama became President.
Beggers can’t be choosers. More applicants than positions.
50 yr old white men keep the lights on and the water drinkable.
Well, Gen X is completely ignored.
Reminds me of the countless times that the biggest gripers about female workers were other women.
Maybe because Gen Z is on their phones all the time looking at the internet.
I hate working with selfish ignorant disrespectful people like me. I prefer colleagues like my parents who apologize f9r everything, stroke my neck, and tush yo give me everything I demand.
Mumma? You there?
They have run thru the alphabet and are back to Gen A?
I guess when you start with Gen “X” it doesn’t take too long.
Aren’t 50 somethings gen x?
Yes. You see articles or documentaries about the generations, and it goes Boomer, Millenial, GenZ, and maybe Alpha. Gen X doesn’t exist. And many companies seem to not want to hire them. A friend of mine caught people referring to themselves as Millennial, when they were really Gen X.
Fastest rising demographic for conservatism? 20-30 year-old men.
Bull
I would take one Gen-Z over 5 Boomers any day
Boomers who won’t die or retire are the problem in the work force today. All these corporate BS fads over the past 30 years are their doing.
That any writer who leans on that clichéd phrase like a crutch is an incompetent Gen Zer themselves?
"They're"
