House Speaker Mike Johnson erupted in frustration Thursday after learning that Democrat-led states filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for attempting to determine how many illegal aliens are receiving taxpayer-funded welfare benefits under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
At a press conference alongside USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins, Johnson blasted Senate Democrats for prioritizing “political theater” over feeding American families as the government shutdown stretched into its 31st day.
“They sued the USDA for asking them, simply asking them to tell them how many illegal aliens are on the programs in California, New York, and these other states,” Johnson fumed.
“They sued them. You need to take account of what people are doing here in each party, the leaders and the President of the United States.”

Was there any Federal way of going about this where only citizens could be eligible for all future renewals of benefits? Thinking of veterans, disabled veterans, foster youth, and others who really need it.

I was just telling someone that maybe Trump should announce Snap Benefits would be continued during shutdown for people who have proof of citizenship
they need to as also how many paper children are on snap.... meaning children that only exist becouse the person claimes they exist...I think half of snap is fraud

Veterans, albeit mostly with mental or drug problems, sleep in the streets, they need help. Illegal aliens sleep in hotels with catered food paid for on my dime, they need to be sent back to country of origin. Not one damn dime for them from the taxpayer.
