Rand Paul: Trump could see ‘all hell break loose’ with further involvement in Ukraine, Venezuela

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) warned on Friday that President Trump’s growing involvements in Ukraine’s war with Russia and in the Caribbean Sea against Venezuela could further unravel and greatly upset the MAGA base.

Paul, in an interview with Dasha Burns on Politico’s “The Conversation” podcast, said the $20 billion “economic stabilization” agreement with Argentina could be “the dealbreaker … because it’s an enormous amount of money.”

“But if there is more money going to Ukraine, and it looks like he is coming down on the side of getting us involved with Ukraine on their side of the war [with Russia] or on any side of this war, I think you’re going to see all hell break loose,” the senator added.

He then suggested that American intervention overseas will be a bigger deal than the Trump administration’s handling of the case involving the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

“And if all of a sudden, President Trump becomes the president of regime change in Venezuela and giving arms and money to Ukraine, I think a lot of people will feel abandoned,” Paul said.

I don’t really care about Ukraine, but Maduro must go and he will, one way or another. Trump doesn’t have to invade Venezuela to get him out either. I doubt if Maduro will last a year,

Rand Paul co-sponsored a Bill with RAT Tim Kaine, and five RINOS, including Paul, yesterday voted to block President Trump’s 50% tariffs on Brazil. You can always count on Rand Paul to stab you in the back.

Many people have said that about him, but he's still there, and as long as he has a stranglehold over the government, he won't be leaving anytime soon. I hope I'm wrong and you're right though.

He also warned against taking out Iran’s nuke capabilities, and tried to convince us that it would lead to a protracted regional war and tens of thousands of American military casualties. How’d that prediction work out?

I've seen Rand Paul make some really brilliant arguments over the year, especially regarding Covid and the ensuing coverup.

But I've seem him make some really stupid arguments as well, and this could be one of them. We'll see.

DOA without a House majority. Even if it reaches Trump’s desk with House and Senate majorities, needs 2/3 in both chambers to override an all-but-certain veto. And no President will ever go along with a reduction in his tariff powers, so any attempt by Congress to take it back will almost guaranteed need 2/3 of both chambers.

Rand makes it sound like we are giving $20 billion to Argentina. We are not. It's a currency swap.

Paul makes good arguments on spending, overregulation and government overreach.

But like all libertarians, he has drunk deeply of the "free trade" and open borders Kool Aide and on foreign policy differs little from the Code Pink "blame America first" and "let's all sing kumbaya" approach.
