Rami Glikstein, 58, a lecturer in the IDF from Jerusalem, was walking toward the popular kosher restaurant Mr. Broadway on West 38th Street around 12:40 p.m. when the unprovoked assault occurred.

According to police and a detailed post Glikstein shared on Facebook, a man dressed entirely in black approached him aggressively and shouted, “What the f** is your religion?”*

Before Glikstein could respond, the attacker ripped the kippah from his head, threw it to the ground, spit on it and stomped on it in open contempt.
As Glikstein attempted to move away, the assailant turned back and punched him violently in the face — knocking him to the sidewalk. The blow caused a deep cut, visible facial bruising, and a brain bleed that required emergency treatment at Mount Sinai Hospital.

I distinctly saw a man stand between the assailant and the victim while the victim was on the ground.
I further saw other people engaged with the assailant drawing him away from the victim.
The assailant should have kept walking. He chose instead to return and escalate to battery.
