Meet the billionaires spending over six figures to stop Zohran Mamdani from becoming New York’s next mayor, from Michael Bloomberg to Bill Ackman

Part of Zohran Mamdani’s campaign centers around the belief that billionaires shouldn’t exist. Now, those ultra-wealthy earners are aiming to stop the mayoral candidate, in part, by boosting the profile of former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Mamdani’s opponent for this cycle.

Part of Mamdani’s bid has been to tax the ultra-rich and wealthy corporations, which include an additional 2% tax on New Yorkers earning more than $1 million a year. Despite these multi-million dollar oppositions, Mamdani is maintaining a lead in the mayoral race.

Some of the groups opposing Mamdani include “Fix the City” (pro-Cuomo committee) and “Defend NYC” (a group made to oppose Mamdani). Fix the City has raised $7.3 million since the primary, Defend NYC has raised almost $2.5 million, according to Business Insider.

Now, roughly 26 billionaires and rich families from around the U.S. have spent at least six figures to support Cuomo, according to an analysis from Forbes. They estimate the total amount equates to over $22 million to back opposition campaigns, including from billionaires Bill Ackman and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

I hope so......lots of stupid, brainwashed people in NYC and someone mentioned Curtis throwing in the towel and support the lesser of the 2 evils and get a spot on his administration.

If taxing millionaires at 50% didn't make NY affordable, why would taxing them at 52%?

Hint: it won't.

That money will disappear and the problems will persist or get even worse.

And then Imamdani will run for re-election on the platform of raising taxes on millionaires to fix the problems his first tax increase made even worse.🙄

Oy, very. That's Yiddish for Ay, yi, yi.

Meet the billionaires spending over six figures to stop Zohran Mamdani from becoming New York’s next mayor...

Not necessary, just as long as the maximum damage is done to Mamdani, Cuomo, New York City Leftists, Liberals, Democrats and City Government.

I think it’s hilarious that “billionaires” finally came to the realization that Mamdani will be bad for NYC. Apparently having wealth doesn’t mean you’re smart.

Hey NYC, we tried to warn you, embrace the suck.

Not that I could ever vote for this commie muzzie but he has enemies you’d find on my list.

If they were smart and honorable, they'd pressure (or bribe) Cuomo to drop out, then fund Sliwa.

Republican registration was as bad in 1993 as today, yet Giuliani won because crime was awful under Dinkins, and Giuliani was seen as a crime fighter.

Same scenario as today.

Crime is awful and Sliwa is a recognized crime fighter.

Mark Simone, radio broadcaster at NYC’s 710 WOR, says this:

Whoever the billionaires flock to support ALWAYS loses.

They always back the wrong candidate.

Now, this is a three-person race, so your mileage may vary, but, according to the Mark Simone rule, the current Cuomo-centric push by billionaires MAY produce a Curtis Sliva victory by means of a plurality.

None of the three candidates appears to be headed toward winning a majority of the votes.

Imagine the surprise of the pundits if the three candidates each end up getting approximately one third of the vote.

Small differences in momentum and last-minute campaign faux pas may make a big difference in such a scenario.

Curtis Sliva could develop, if not the Big Mo, than at least a “mini-Mo”. He is also very consistent, is not error-prone, and is a known quantity. His lack of experience in governance produces what some may see as a shortfall in “gravitas”, not necessarily found in Cuomo.

An interesting race!

Here’s hoping Momdani falls to earth (politically), Cuomo stumbles and continues appropriately to be confronted with his gruesome record as NY governor, and Sliva keeps it together, stays on message.

At this point I’m inclined to believe Mamdani is God’s judgement on NYC.

They need to spend their money on a good long-term job for Curtis Sliwa, so that he will leave the race and endorse Cuomo. I cannot believe that I am saying that, as I despise Cuomo, but the alternative is infinitely worse.
