A Culver City ice cream vendor who was detained by federal immigration agents earlier this year has returned home and resumed work after being granted permanent residency in the United States.
Enrique Lozano, who has lived in Los Angeles for nearly 20 years, was taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in June while selling ice cream along Culver Boulevard. His arrest, which left his cart abandoned in the street, prompted concern among residents who had known him for years.
“It was a long, stressful time for sure,” said his niece, Kimberly Noriega, who helped organize efforts to secure his release. “We’re so appreciative of everybody who helped. He’s very happy to be here.”
Community members raised funds, hired attorneys, and launched a campaign supporting Lozano. “When he was taken away, it shook this community,” said Fred Delgado, a Culver City resident.
After four months in ICE detention, Lozano was granted permanent residency through his wife, a U.S. resident, according to his attorney, Ebony Espinoza.

Original story from June.
It pays very well! Just ask a lawyer!..................
He’s lucky wouldn’t you say?
20 years and never attempted to become a citizen despite having a wife who is a US citizen.
I don’t get it.
They must have hired top immigration lawyers................
This is what 40+ years of lax to no enforcement of immigration laws looks like.
I’m pretty sure some politicians were involved.
"Lozano was granted permanent residency through his wife"
Deport all sidewalk vendors.
He's not the first to prove it.
Niece was Noriega....
Any relation?
Panama was led by the dictator Manuel Noriega, ousted from power in 1989 during Operation Just Cause, which was launched to end his rule and combat drug trafficking.

And he's got creamsicles can I have some money please!
Why spend cash to become a citizen or permanent legal resident if there is no pressure to do so?
So his wife is an anchor baby. Just like chain migration. If you have a third cousin’s niece who is married to an American citizen, then she can sponsor you to get into the USA home free and live on welfare forever. /spit
Believe it or not domestic surveillance subsidizes a lot of food cart businesses for its agents. I would assume he is a posted ground surveillance unit, and so like Epstein, he “belongs to intelligence,” and the authorities were told to leave it alone.
It is a shame, that is even more reason to deport him. Until US Domestic surveillance is gone, this nation will never be free or lawful.
This farticle is a lie. Culver City is not the boy’s home.
You know how President Trump often boasts about the big number of arrests and deportations ICE is handling? I support President Trump 100% on what he’s doing with illegals and criminal aliens.
Well a few days ago I saw a video of one of his events, that often have questions from the press at the end. There was something new he said about ICE that I hadn’t heard before in his oft repeated talking points on illegals.
He said something like... that in a few arrest cases that corrections were made, and made quickly. It might have been in response to a reporter’s question echoing the constant drumbeat of leftists saying that citizens were being arrested. I can’t remember the context for sure.
But maybe this beloved ice cream man with his status adjusted to a Green Card was one of the corrections. With millions now being deported (numbers that include the self-deported), it seems likely that a few corrections will be made concerning status.
What boy?
I am glad he never tried to become a citizen. That means he wasn’t supposed to vote.
I don’t know why in 20 years he wouldn’t have squared away his green card though.
