As the federal government shutdown continues, millions of Americans may not receive their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits in November, but DoorDash is stepping in to help.
The delivery platform announced the launch of its Emergency Food Response. DoorDash also plans to waive delivery and service fees for an estimated 300,000 grocery orders placed by SNAP recipients through its app.
Participating grocers include Sprouts, Dollar General, Schnucks, Ahold Delhaize brands, Hy-Vee, Giant Eagle and Wegmans. The company said customers with a SNAP/EBT card linked to their DoorDash account will be eligible for one fee-free grocery delivery during November.
“No one should go hungry in America – period,” Max Rettig, vice president and global head of public policy at DoorDash, said in a statement. “Millions of families are worried right now about how they’ll put food on the table. Fighting hunger is core to our mission at DoorDash, and we’re stepping up alongside leading grocers and retailers to help bridge the gap. We know this is a stopgap, not a solution. But doing nothing simply isn’t an option.”

I think we should lay it all out there, the actual numbers, demographics, and the reasons why can’t they put food on their tables. I dare them to demand an honest evaluation. Not a penny from the Federal Government until you do.

Anybody that uses any delivery service should be kicked out of SNAP, unless totally immobile and can’t drive.

Doesn't sound beneficial to door dash drivers, I can't imagine these recipients tip well either.
I’ve always said that it should be mandatory for kids to learn how to hunt and fish in grade school. It’s a necessity to help you survive and not starve.

A horribly large percentage of ebt users are obese.
So, a question:
Is anyone asking obese adults to give up a meal for a child in need?

There are many disabled people on SNAP who rely on delivery. While I agree, many more are lazy, all of them are not.
Also, this is DoorDash and they can do this for free if they want. The government isn’t paying this time.
