White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has praised a piece published in a liberal news outlet about Trump's ballroom project.
'First dose of common sense I’ve seen from the legacy media on this story,' Leavitt wrote on X, sharing a Saturday piece from the Washington Post Editorial Board, which has been revamped in 2025 to share more libertarian views.
The Board used the editorial piece to push back on the 'Not In My Back Yard' crowd, often called NIMBY's.
'In classic Trump fashion, the president is pursuing a reasonable idea in the most jarring manner possible,' the Board writes, while also noting that, 'privately, many alumni of the Biden and Obama White Houses acknowledge the long-overdue need for an event space like what Trump is creating.'
'It is absurd that tents need to be erected on the South Lawn for state dinners, and VIPs are forced to use porta-potties,' the Board adds.

Just when you think you have figured out the media, they go and say something sensible. Astonishing!
If a whack job leftist Democrat gets back in the White House, they will tear down the Trump Ballroom, as well as the border wall. This is not meant as an exaggeration. They are that insane and filled with hate.
The optics are horrible with the state of the economy..
Taxpayers are not paying for this.
The optics of diplomacy ending a bunch of wars/conflicts is a pretty good advertisement for creating spaces where we build relationships with world leaders. As this editorial says, putting up tents and forcing world VIP’s to use porta-potties is not exactly a good way to say we’re serious about engaging with our world. Especially when taxpayer funds have been used for Presidents’ more selfish reasons like a basketball court and a movie theater. Time to tell the world the USA is back, and our leaders will no longer be the self-serving clowns they were in the past.
I get all that but regardless many do not see it that way as the average consumer who is hurting out in the country sees it as much like let them eat cake...
The focus needs brought down to the local level, not the Global level.
The construction is using private enterprise to construct the ballroom. The people working on the project are in the private sector.
“””The optics are horrible with the state of the economy..””
I didn’t know the economy was in such horrible shape.
It needs to be framed properly. For instance, contrasting a President who puts in a basketball court who will only be used by him and his personal buddies with a ballroom that will be used by world leaders for the purposes of saving many lives. Which would you rather have a President doing? And which one wasted OUR tax money on his personal pleasure, and which used his own money to provide what will serve this country and the whole world?
WashPost’s owner is a donor.
“If a whack job leftist Democrat gets back in the White House, they will tear down the Trump Ballroom”
That’s already in the works. The plan is to demolish it and replace it with a “pride obelisk”.
Of right. The economy sucks. 🙄
If it were a fair media...
Yes not doing well on many fronts. From lack of jobs to cost of everything going up.
The Media will shape it to make the GOP look really bad.
Eff the Media.
Well….just because the stock market is at an all-time high and inflation is under control, the budget showed a surplus last month and gas prices are the lowest in four years doesn’t mean that Trump isn’t tanking the economy…🙄
