They’re DEMOCRAT senators, not democratic.
There’s NOTHING democratic about the democrat party.
Elected officials are SUPPOSED to be terrified of their voters.
Nothing wrong with that.
DemocRAT senators are afraid their base may start shooting at them too.
It’s an interesting contrast.
The RINOs fought (and still fight) against MAGA base, showing absolute contempt or, at most, lip service base. They are gradually losing influence or office.
The Democrats, having watched their fellow pigs get slaughtered have adopted the strategy of actually following the base’s desires.
It’s ironically more honorable than RINOs.
They should be afraid.
They have encouraged political violence and assassination. And this provocation that they’ve encouraged can suddenly turn against them if they disappoint!
They should be..they’ve been winding up the hate main spring for a while now and all that potential energy has to go somewhere.
IOW, the Young [sic] Turks aren't concerned about any other hardships or consequences of the shutdown. Like all other Demagogic Party demagogues, they are only concerned about power.
I prefer to think of it in terms of an empoyer/employee relationship. They are our employees, we are their bosses. If they are doing what we hired them to do, then they should have no reason to be terrified. If they are trying to screw us over, feather their own nests on our dime, or acting in complete disregard for their own bosses, then yes, at that point, they should probably be terrified.
Dems have trained their base to be violent - even killing those they DISAGREE with. They will turn on dem leaders as soon as the money freebies stop.
Maybe that's what they THINK they're doing. How soon will it be when they learn that it's not THEIR base that they're following?
Their base has moved away, given up or passed on. The new base is stringing them along for now, but I expect a vigorous primary season for each of them when the time comes.

The democrat party is about to enter a civil war of their own making. The brain washed idiots coming, Out of the colleges are revolting against the establishment.
Their base is terrifying! 30% of them are murderous communists, deviants, and assorted weirdos. The other 70% are people so stupid they will be led by the nose to their own destruction by the 30%.
I’ll say it again, repeal the 17th amendment. Give the states their voices back.
“Traditional” Democrats know they have lost all control and influence, not only of their base, but of their party which has devolved rapidly into the Democrat/Communist Party (or, more precisely, Cult).

Democrat BASE is far left nut jobs. The pay attention in primaries.
Democrat voting base is mostly blacks and followers whose parents were Democrat. They vote the most familiar name in primaries....but most don’t vote in primaries. The vote for the D in November.
