While future guests of the White House will be having a ball in its forthcoming ballroom, for which demolition began on Monday, the massive renovation isn’t the first of its scale at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Since its debut in 1800, and reconstruction in 1817, the presidential residence has seen a number of major facelifts.

Little expense to taxpayers
Best President evah!
This is grotesque.
Vince spent some time on this on his show yesterday, and illuminates the critics for the absolutely ignorant douchebags they are.
Most likely the Jackie O French influence there...
Yeah but there’s a huge difference now. Back then the taxpayers paid for it. Now Trump and donors are paying for it.
Trump will continue to go around the media and educate the masses regarding what is going on.
The liberals are having some meltdowns over this.
Some are saying Trump is using a wrecking ball on the White House, in effect tearing down the East Wing to make it a Trumpian palace, as if he’s a king, etc etc.
It’s good to have perspective, that there have been numerous remodeling jobs and changes in the White House, which leftists did not complain about.
“The liberals are having some meltdowns over this”.
I was glad to see this article put up a map of where it is happening, because I think the liberal press showing the demolition to the general public to make it seem as if it’s the actual White House itself being destroyed by Trump.
I’m surprised that a DC judge hasn’t issued an injunction to stop the demolition and order that the wing be restored to its present state.

The East Wing is not part of the White House. It only connects to it, like the West Wing.
Yes, it is.
The NY Post didn't mention the running track Billy Jeff had put in, that he never actually used.
No mention of a swimming pool installed by President Ford.
Odd.
Let’s not give the judges any ideas now.
Darn it! I knew I missed at least one in there!
Thanks.
Also, I think T. Roosevelt added electricity, Truman and Carter upgraded, and no word on who added the bunker & skiff, but clearly is was post FDR.
Next, we need to keep an historical list of who bitched about it.
