FIRST ON FOX - A former longtime Navy SEAL and fifth-generation Kentucky farmer who is backed by President Donald Trump on Tuesday declared his candidacy in the state's 4th Congressional District, as he challenges Republican Rep. Thomas Massie in next year's GOP primary.
"I’ve dedicated my life to serving my country, and I’m ready to answer the call again," Ed Gallrein said in a statement shared first with Fox News Digital.
And pointing to Massie, a frequent GOP critic of the president during his second term in the White House, Gallrein emphasized, "This district is Trump Country. The President doesn’t need obstacles in Congress – he needs backup. I’ll defeat Thomas Massie, stand shoulder to shoulder with President Trump, and deliver the America First results Kentuckians voted for."
The campaign launch comes four days after Trump took to social media to praise Gallrein, urge him to run and blast Massie.
Trump argued that Massie was a "Third Rate Congressman," a "Weak and Pathetic RINO," and a "totally ineffective LOSER who has failed us so badly."

And the president applauded Gallrein, calling him a "Brave Combat Veteran" and a "very successful Businessman" who, if elected to Congress, would "fight tirelessly to Keep our now very Secure Border, SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment."

Rand Paul is a Libertarian grandstander, Massie and controlled opposition.
Both magically end up opposite of significant conservative issues, quite often using the purist’s definition of ideological beliefs as a shield to hide behind. The result has been their obstruction that always seems to support democrats on those key positions.
Disagreeing is fine but at some point, one needs to vote for the best workable solution.
My world view is Christian / conservative as best I can understand (through the Holy Spirit) and practice.

Just as an FYI, Rand Paul votes with Trump 87% of the time. He didn’t vote yes on the BBB which as it turns out did nothing to cut spending. He also voted against BOTH of the (bogus) impeachments.
Brings back fond memories of Harry Truman, who was subjected to relentless ridicule by the self-important chatterati but who is recognized as one of the greatest Presidents in US history.
Harry's wife Bess was also subjected to ridicule. But she was terrific.

I don’t know why, as he was a leftist (of sorts), but I have a soft spot in my heart for Harry Truman.
I think it’s because he was among the last sane Democrats.
They are all controlled opposition—from our president on down. After several wacks at him and his family, Rand included. Massie probably more principled than any other congress critter, though that’s saying almost nothing.
