HONG KONG (AP) — A cargo aircraft skidded off a Hong Kong airport runway into the sea when landing early Monday, with two people confirmed dead.
The flight, arriving from Dubai, was landing at Hong Kong International Airport around 3:50 a.m., according to Hong Kong’s airport authority.
Four crew members on the plane have been rescued and taken to hospital. But police said initial reports suggested two people on an airport ground vehicle were confirmed dead.

Pilot might have had more luck with a Boeing 314 than he did with a Boeing 747.

Sry, meant to add -
sad for the dead and injured, but as to the cargo there’s only one thing to say:

Then instead of missing the runway he’d miss the ocean!

The captains did not seek help before landing and had taxied about halfway down the runway before skidding off it to the left, Steven Yiu, the airport authority’s executive director in airport operations, said during a press conference. That's odd. How fast would a 747 still be going after it had taxied that far? Off the runway, through the fence, shove a car into the water. The two killed were in the car. Sounds like a sudden mechanical failure of something on the plane.
