Liberal Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson on Wednesday compared efforts to draw congressional districts along racial lines to the way disabled people were granted easier access to buildings after the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) became law.
“The idea in Section 2 [of the Voting Rights Act] is that we are responding to current-day manifestations of past and present decisions that disadvantage minorities and make it so that they don’t have equal access to the voting system, right?” Jackson said, as she questioned a lawyer representing Louisiana voters who argued that the court-ordered creation of a second majority-black district in the state violated the 14th Amendment by prioritizing racial composition in its boundaries.
“They’re disabled,” the justice said of minority voters in the state.
Jackson noted that the majority opinion in a 2023 Supreme Court ruling — which found Alabama unlawfully diluted the voting power of black people in the state — “used the word ‘disabled’” to describe voters subject to “processes [that] are not equally open.”

“[M]y kind of paradigmatic example of this is something like the ADA,” Jackson said, comparing the remedy mandated by the courts to the landmark civil rights law passed by Congress in 1990. “Congress passed the Americans with Disabilities Act against the backdrop of a world that was generally not accessible to people with disabilities, and so it was discriminatory in effect because these folks were not able to access these buildings,” the justice explained ***

She wasn’t hired for her cognitive abilities that’s for sure.
Hmmm...not seeing Wakanda’s IQ score?
Is stupid a disability?
It’s great how Ketanji Brown Jackson uses “they” and not “we”.
So disabled people should get their own congressional district? How about gays getting their own district? How about midgets? You can go on and on. She is not qualified to sit on the Supreme Court.
That’s essentially the same argument everybody uses to justify racial discrimination. Some folks in the antebellum South argued that slavery was good for blacks because they were unable to function well in general society and needed that special institution.
Justice Jackson- they’re not disabled, but you certainly are.

I thought Sotomayor was the dumbest justice ever.
Now Ketanji Brown Jackson wears the dunce cap.
Both were DEI’d to the top of the justice system.
By disabled, she meant unable to access political power by electing a candidate to represent their interests.
Someone who is unable to walk is not incompetent but is unable to access buildings and transportation without physical accommodation. Hence, deprived of work, education, pleasure and civic participation.
It is a labored analogy, inartfully expressed, which supposes that blacks must have interests in common with blacks as a group, so that they are better accommodated by voting as a bloc with blacks halfway across the state than with whites in the next town, and that without the accommodation they will be powerless in civic matters.
Thanks Joe.
Yet another DEI idiot....
Her Suggestion is disturbing. To me it signifies that racism, and acting out on racism, isn’t limited to just Caucasians. It’s Hillary Clinton ‘deplorable’ no matter the race that suggests it.
How about that, she’s racist. She think blacks are inferior.
Blacks would be a lot better off, as a group, if they'd stop listening to people like Ketanji Brown Jackson who tells them they can't make it without special help and just do it.
Isn’t it racist to say that Blacks are “disabled” because of their skin color?
So every time she writes an opinion, there should be a disclaimer stating “WARNING: The following contains the thoughts of a mentally disabled individual. Reader beware.”
Ketanji keep it up, you are a true maverick with your outside the box thinking. Other mavericks that libs love. McCain, Rand Paul, Massie.
Justice Robert’s may go along with this. He thinks Obamacare is just a tax.
They get her to and from work via special limo:
The cafeteria has a placement just for her:
And once court is in session she has the symbol of her power before her:
