Benjamin Netanyahu appears in court to face corruption charges - after Trump told the Knesset: 'Cigars and champagne, who the **** cares about that? Why don't you give him a pardon'

Benjamin Netanyahu appeared in a Tel Aviv court today to face corruption charges after Donald Trump demanded that the Knesset pardon the Israeli prime minister.

The latest hearing is part of Netanyahu's long-running corruption trial, which opened in May 2020.

The prime minister kept a smiling face as he and his entourage of several ministers from his conservative Likud party were heckled by protesters en route to the tribunal.

It comes after the U.S. President suggested on Monday that the charges against the Israeli premier should be dropped in his three separate corruption cases.

‘I have an idea, why don’t you give Netanyahu a pardon?' Trump told Israel President Isaac Herzog during his address to the parliament, following the historic release of the last remaining 20 Israeli hostages in Gaza.

'Cigars and some champagne — who the hell cares?' Trump said in his more than one-hour speech, referring to the fraud, bribery and breach of trust charges, which Netanyahu denies.

The joke caused the parliament to erupt with laughter and cheers as Trump continued with his remarks on the topic, referring to Netanyahu as 'one of the great wartime presidents'.

‘Alright enough controversy for the day. Actually, I don’t think it’s very controversial,’ Trump added before addressing Netanyahu. ‘You’re a very popular man. You know? Because you know how to win.’

The word is greatly overused in today’s world, but I swear, President Trump continues to amaze me. His comprehensive knowledge of world events and how they got that way, his innovative and workable solutions to problems other leaders had given up trying to ever resolve.

An innate sense of doled out diplomacy, under a colorful wrapper of unpredictability and braggadocio, a talent for communication, quickly understood by all.
One of a kind, I’m telling you. A man made specifically for this moment in time. Not saying he’s perfect, but then, who really is?

At the weekend celebrations in Hostages Square in Israel the other night, any mention of Trump was cheered while Netanyahu was booed…

A nation coming out of a war can be quite unpredictable, even ingracious to those who helped them, for the first few years following.

Didn’t Winston Churchill find himself quickly booted out of office, after leading Britain to victory in WW2? He suffered a landslide defeat in the 1945 general election, mere months after the end of that conflict. Sometimes, people are hungry for big changes after a war has ended. Often producing a
Throwing Baby out w/Bathwater situation. Not realizing it until it’s way too late to fix.

From the Israelis' perspective, they knew that Netanyahu financed Hamas before the war. Otherwise, there was a possibility of a "two-state" solution.

Why did the Daily Mail "****" out the word "hell?"

Did they want people to think that President Trump said something else in front of the Knesset?

Cigars and some champagne — who the hell cares?

Because every politician has political enemies - people who resent your success. Envious, small people - but if they have sufficient power they can make your life miserable (Schiff, talking about you, for one).

"Looks like Israel also has a Swamp."
From #9 above. I hadn't read anything on the subject but its probably true of all governments that there are entrenched interests and their backers who outlast any "leaders" and ensure their interests whatever they may be are protected and advanced.

These charges and surrounding circus are an attempted Color Revolution in Israel.

Perhaps no one explains it better than Gadi Taub, born, raised, and built a career in the Israeli Left before he wised up (like David Horowitz). Lots of interviews of him online.

Here’s from his regular appearances with American Michael Doran:

There is a documentary about Bibi, I think that is in the title. He really is corrupt to the core.

The Brits kicked Churchill out of office after he won WW2 for them. They tried to go forward with somebody else. Then they voted him back in. Sort of like Trump.
