There's an old fable about a scorpion that convinces a frog to carry it across a river. The scorpion repeatedly promises it won't sting the frog, and finally convinces the amphibian to carry it across. When they reach the other side, the scorpion promptly stings the frog. The dying frog asks why, after all the promises, the scorpion stung.
The scorpion replied, "I couldn't help it. It's in my nature."
It's in the nature of Hamas to be murderous and brutal, and only a day after the signing of a historic peace deal between the terrorist group and Israel, Hamas is viciously reasserting control over the parts of Gaza that the Israeli military has withdrawn from; they are committing reprisals and public executions.
Hamas carried out mass public executions in Gaza on Monday, just hours after signing a peace treaty with Israel — as part of a series of bloody reprisals following the withdrawal of Israeli troops, gruesome video shows.
The graphic footage shows eight badly beaten, blindfolded men kneeling in the street before each is shot dead by Hamas gunmen in front of a cheering crowd.
The terror group said, without providing evidence, that the killings targeted “criminals and collaborators with Israel,” the BBC reported.
It's been a little over 24 hours since the signing of the peace deal, and Hamas is staying true to form. What they consider to be "criminals and collaborators with Israel," it seems, is anyone who opposes Hamas' rule over Gaza, in any form.
Among those killed was Ahmad Zidan al-Tarabin, reportedly responsible for recruiting agents to a rival non-Hamas-aligned militia, Israeli outlet ynet News reported.
Following the IDF’s withdrawal, Hamas has quickly looked to reassert its control over Gaza, targeting the “clans,” or family-based armed groups that had gained strength during the conflict.
Like the scorpion's sting, it's in their nature.

Watch:
Here's the scorpion in the room: Any long-lasting peace in Gaza is dependent on making Gaza prosperous. Gaza, as I wrote only Monday, has the possibility of being another Dubai. It's in a location that could attract a lot of foreign investment: Beachfront hotels, clubs, and restaurants. Gaza could, as Israel has done, make the desert bloom, and the people of Gaza would likewise bloom. As I also noted on Monday, people who are making money are a lot less likely to go around looking for trouble. That's not an infallible rule, of course; Osama Bin Laden came from a well-to-do family. But it's a good general rule. And this kind of investment could make Gaza wealthy.
That's the great thing about capitalism: It works every time it's tried.
It's clear now that Hamas will never allow this to happen. Gaza now is what Hamas wants. No prosperity, only hate, violence, and their own brutal rule. Hamas is determined to keep its boot on Gaza's throat, and there will never be any modernization, any investment in the area while Hamas is in charge. They are fundamentally opposed to the one thing that could make Gaza prosperous, and given their scorpion-like nature, peace agreement or no peace agreement, it's only a matter of time before they lash out at Israel again.
Once again: There will never be a lasting peace in Gaza until Hamas is no longer a factor.
We should deport the US college students who set up matching tents on campuses, spray painted anti-semitic slogans on uniiversity buildings and surrounded Jewish students to keep them from using the library or attending classes.
Send them to the wonderland of the Hamas territories where gay ones will get murdered and women have to wait for a male relative to drive them anywhere (while wearing modest attire and a hijab as they wait) and others will be beheaded for offending the local terrorists in some way.
In the Hamas justice system it’s easy to lose your head.
And we thought our football crowds outside the bars were bad.
Different sports crowds in different cultures.
In a previous post I said that Hamas cannot be trusted with a peace agreement. The ONLY solution is the eradication of Hamas before Hamas eradicates Israel. That’s the long run choice...period.
America's Liberals would do the same thing if 8 Conservatives were executed before their eyes.
Necessary but insufficient: Hamas will just get replaced by another set of whackos.
Hit the source - the moneymen behind the scenes. Israel’s bombing raid on Qatar didn’t knock out the biggest wigs in Hamas like they’d hoped, but they also sent Qatar a message that they aren’t safe, either.
The pro-Palestinian libs don’t care. Hamas can do whatever it wants and they’ll blame the Jews because that is what their classroom professors and the mainstream media tells them to do.
Amen, bro. I still don’t understand why we didn’t let Greta and her band of fleabags land in Gaza.
They need to just build a wall around that place and be done with it. It’s worthless and always will be after this war unless we dump 3 trillion into it for big tech... and it’ll still be worthless to anyone sane.
At least Trump and company got the hostages back.
For the rest he had just as well lose the dogs of war. Nothing short of that will end hamas.
When a person or group are as demon deiven as hammas is, there is NO CHANCE for peace- ever. They are pure evil. Murderous demon driven animals
"They have healed the brokenness of My people superficially, saying, 'Peace, Peace' But there is no peace." Jeremiah 6:14 - NASB
Dang! And I thought the “war was over”.
Dang! And I thought the “war was over”.
It is pathetically obvious that any “deal” made with ANY Islamic-Arab-Persian entity will be broken. It cannot be any other way. After thousands of years in dealing with the Arab mentality, the Judeo-Christian West ALWAYS stumbles assuming that:
1) The PALEOstinian Arabs want peace.
2) They will [never] compromise.
3) These scum are somehow civilized and will honor their fellow man or woman.
4) An agreement on paper is worthless.
5) “Takia” takes pace where it is permissible to lie to your adversary.
In short, they must all die before there can be peace.
And the surprises anyone?
Don’t care.
Folks this just started 2000 years ago. It ain’t over till both sides are DEAD. PERIOD IMO
I can think of a few congress critters who can go over there and protest. Maybe a former president who will tell Hamas, “DON’T”.
