The Presidential Medal of Honor ceremony drew prominent conservatives, including Tucker Carlson and Javier Milei.

President Donald Trump and a cast of prominent conservatives paid tribute Tuesday to Charlie Kirk, the activist who was a rising figure on the political right when he was shot and killed last month.

Trump posthumously awarded Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom, comparing the slain 31-year-old podcast host and founder of Turning Point USA to leading figures in history.

“Charlie Kirk was a martyr for truth and for freedom,” he said. “From Socrates and Saint Peter, to Abraham Lincoln, to Martin Luther King, those who changed history the most … have always risked their lives for causes they were put on earth to defend.”

Kirk was shot and killed Sept. 10 while speaking at a college in Utah, an attack that sparked widespread outrage and heightened fears of political violence. The White House gathering drew conservative luminaries, including Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson and Argentine President Javier Milei.

Trump walked Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, out to the Rose Garden to present the award, as a crowd full of the president’s Cabinet, members of Congress and friends of Kirk looked on.

“It was supposed to be a terrible, rainy day,” Trump told the crowd. “But God was watching, and didn’t want that for Charlie. It couldn’t be more beautiful.”

The ceremony for Kirk came on what would have been his 32nd birthday. Last month, the House and Senate approved a resolution making Oct. 14 a “National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk.”

“I can say with confidence Mr. President, you have given him the best birthday gift he could ever have,” Erika Kirk said in her remarks.

Trump had announced that he would present the award to Kirk just a day after he was killed,...

Oh. Good. Then school is not yet a factor yet.
That gives Erika some time before a lot of decision making. Toddlers would still be mostly with Mama anyway.
