UN has condemned US strikes on small boats it believes to be trafficking drugs as extrajudicial executions
Donald Trump said the US has struck another small boat that he accuses of carrying drugs in waters off Venezuela, killing six people.
“The strike was conducted in International Waters, and six male narcoterrorists aboard the vessel were killed in the strike. No U.S. Forces were harmed,” Trump said in a statement on his Truth Social social media platform.
The United Nations has condemned the US strikes on small boats it believes to be trafficking drugs as extrajudicial executions. The US defends the attacks as countering “narco-terrorist” members of Tren de Aragua, which has been designated a foreign terrorist organization.

[Independent watchdog group estimates
Independent groups documented significantly higher numbers of civilian deaths during the same period. For example, the Bureau of Investigative Journalism (TBIJ) reported the following:
Pakistan (2009–2016): Between 257 and 634 civilian deaths.
Yemen (2009–2016): Between 124 and 161 civilian deaths.
Somalia (2009–2016): Between 3 and 12 civilian deaths.
TBIJ and Amnesty International have also documented specific cases, such as a 2009 cruise missile strike in Yemen, which killed at least 41 civilians, including 21 children, in a strike the U.S. initially tried to cover up.
Killing of U.S. citizens without due process
The Obama administration came under significant criticism for its targeted killing program, which critics described as extrajudicial due to a lack of formal charges or judicial oversight. Several U.S. citizens were killed by drone strikes during this time.
American citizens killed in U.S. drone strikes
Anwar al-Awlaki (September 2011): A U.S.-born cleric and alleged Al-Qaeda leader, killed in a targeted drone strike in Yemen.
Samir Khan (September 2011): A U.S. citizen and editor of an Al-Qaeda magazine, killed in the same strike as al-Awlaki.
Abdulrahman al-Awlaki (October 2011): Anwar al-Awlaki’s 16-year-old son, killed in a separate drone strike in Yemen weeks later. According to the administration, he was not specifically targeted.
Jude Kenan Mohammad (2011): A U.S. citizen killed in a drone strike in Pakistan. He was also not specifically targeted. ]
