An Israeli survivor of the 7 October 2023 Hamas attack on the Nova musical festival who saw his girlfriend murdered in front of him has been found dead.
Roei Shalev's body was recovered on Friday evening near Tel Aviv.
Hours earlier the 30-year-old wrote on social media that "I just want this suffering to end. I'm alive, but inside everything is dead". He also asked for forgiveness.
Shalev's mother took her own life two weeks after the Hamas attack.
Shalev died three days after the two-year anniversary of the Hamas attack.
During the attack he tried to shield his girlfriend Mapal Adam and was also shot, but survived by playing dead for hours.
Concerned by Shalev's message, his friends and family members immediately started searching for him.
His body was eventually recovered by emergency services near the city of Netanya.
Israeli police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
Survivors of the Nova festival massacre said they were "heartbroken and deeply saddened by the death of our dear friend".
"Roei was a pillar of strength within the community, and his death is an immeasurable loss for us," they wrote in a post on Instagram.
"Sadly, many members of the Nova community are still experiencing traumatic moments daily since 7 October," they said, asking everyone "to show constant awareness and emotional sensitivity the mental state of those affected" by those events.
About 1,200 people were killed, including more than 370 at the Nova music festival, and 251 taken hostage in the Hamas attack on 7 October 2023 on southern Israel.
Israel responded by launching a military offensive that has killed more than 67,000 Palestinians in Gaza, according to the territory's Hamas-run health ministry.

Dear God, so heartbreaking. My eyes are welling up thinking of this poor man and the suffering he endured by those damned savages. They should have been completely wiped out before the “peace deal.” Who could possibly endure all of this>

According to the BBC, after Hamas slaughtered thousands of Jews, the Jews should have just said “Eh ya know what, all good no worries”
I believe, for a while, NYC considered victims of 9/11 to include anyone who got out of the towers alive but succumbed to related illnesses.
Similarly, I would count this poor soul as being killed by Hamas. RIP.
That kind of trauma is very difficult to overcome. I’m still waiting fir the world to truly condem what happened on Oct. 7 but the Pro-Palestinian voices seem to be all I hear.
The real tragedy is that anyone dies without coming to know Jesus Christ and making peace with His Creator both in this life and for the life to come.

I read the article, but it didn't give a reason for his mother taking her own life. Was it because she believed him to be dead? That's the only reason I can think of why she'd commit suicide so soon after the attack.
Suicide is not surprising for someone who survived that horror.
I’ll bet survivors guilt played a huge role in it, too.

I wondered that, too. Maybe she was reunited with him but couldn’t bear the thought of her son seeing his girlfriend murdered and him having to play dead for hours to survive. Or maybe she knew a lot of their friends who were murdered by the devils and it was just too much to bear. Many possibilities.
Hamas lies. If 67,000 Palestinians died, then 100,000 Israeli citizens were killed by Hamas on October 7th. Gazans won't admit that they commit genocide on Jews, other than bragging to their parents that they personally killed 10 Jews. Why not brag that they killed 100,000 Jews that day? Evil creatures, these arabs in Gaza.

Exactly. What also burns me up is the BBC calling Israel’s response an OFFENSIVE.
If someone smoked the love of my life right in front of me and I found life so unbearable that I couldn't go on any longer, as God is my witness, I'm gonna take care of business first and take some of these MF'ers to hell with me.

While 67,000 dead is probably an exaggeration, Hamas lost about 25,000 soldiers during the war. All these soldiers were war criminals as they were out of uniform during the fighting. The ratio of non combatant loss to military loss is the lowest ever in urban warfare.
On a number of issues the BBC acts like a front for Muslim imperialism. It is more than just gross antisemitism. There are other issues which either get little attention or which produce excuses for malicious behavior by Muslims.
