Nationwide CDL freeze leaves thousands of immigrant truckers without work

CEDAR CITY, Utah (KUTV) — A new emergency action plan by the U.S. Secretary of Transportation has temporarily paused the issuance and renewal of commercial driver's licenses across the country.

States must now audit their licensing systems, which have left many legal non-citizens unsure if they can keep working.

“I got to keep driving down these roads of a country that doesn't really want me here,” said Jorge Rivera, a truck driver from Enoch.

Rivera is one of roughly 580,000 people across the country under DACA, a federal program that allows immigrants brought to the United States as children to live and work legally. His parents moved to the U.S. from Mexico when he was 2 years old.

DACA, or "Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals," isn't an immigration status but rather a temporary protection from deportation that allows work authorization but does not create a pathway to citizenship.

Recipients must renew every two years and can lose eligibility if convicted of misdemeanors or greater crimes, according to federal rules, said immigration attorney Carlos Trujillo.

“I got to keep driving down these roads of a country that doesn’t really want me here”

I’ve never heard or read of someone being compelled to drive in the USA.

Jorge is always welcome to return to Mexico, any time.

Oh, too bad for them. Maybe we should just put them in a 30,000 gallon petrol truck and hve them drive around Sacramento for a few hours every night until they learn to drive and read English.

“...a country that doesn’t really want me here” said Jorge Rivera.

If you are here LAWFULLY, you are welcome. Jorge is in legal limbo with that ridiculous “DACA” program that should have never been created in the first place.

KUTV is intentionally mixing up DACA with the millions of immigrants who cannot speak or read a word of English and have zero clue about driving in the USA. They are a safety menace to all of us.

And the bigger issue is the companies that hire illegal immigrants who don’t speak or read English and have had minimal or no training.

If this fellow has been here since the age of two, he reads and speaks English fine, methinks. He’s probably one of those who can get that CDL under new rules. This sounds to me like the typical low IQ media picking some “easy low lying fruit” to give the impression that all the folks who are here illegally are hit in this manner. If he has a good record and has done well, he has proved that he’s better than 99% of Democrat congress-critters, who have never provided useful work for the country.

And never will.

"Recipients must renew every two years and can lose eligibility if convicted of misdemeanors or greater crimes, according to federal rules, said immigration attorney Carlos Trujillo."

Those rules apply to Anglo Citizens too. It's blatant lying to imply otherwise. If you're Trucker, "Bob Jones" from Little Rock, and you get a DUI, drug arrest, moving violation, or administrative sanction, you are required to report it. If you don't, you immediately lose your CDL. (AND yes, even your pilots license) You are also required to report any medical conditions experienced and any prescribed medications.

I thought nobody is above the law?

Lately I've been playing a game during my commute called "spot the white truck driver."

I'm about 0-100. The entire industry has been taken over by immigrants.

To hell with DACA!

IAC, get the migrant invaders off the roads...
No exceptions...

DACA can be resolved separately, later...

What really irks the Left is all of those people who will not get a license, will not be part of the huuuuge Motor Voter Fraud.

Imagine putting thousands of immigrants on the public highways rolling an 80,000 pound bowling ball on the same lanes you travel.

I pose this question to Democrats all the time.

Why not just pay $50 per ballot filled out right from Mexico, Honduras, Haiti, Nicaragua, etc......and sent FedEx to the designed precincts in America? I mean why bring them all the way here? You run the risk of them turning on you at some point!

Just run ballot sweat shops in foreign countries. Really. I'm not joking. It makes much more sense for all involved from a risk, cost, logistics, and repeatability standpoint.

Very few have said that's a bad idea, it's illegal, unethical, voter fraud, ballot fraud....I usually get a, "hmmmmm...."
