New Jersey Republican gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli plans to sue his Democratic opponent, Mikie Sherrill, for claiming he “killed tens of thousands of people” in profiting from the opioid epidemic.

Ciattarelli’s campaign announced that it plans to file a defamation lawsuit next week against Sherrill for her comments made during Wednesday night’s fiery final debate before Election Day, in which she accused the Republican of making millions publishing opioid propaganda at his former medical publishing company.

Sherrill “claimed — twice — that Jack Ciattarelli ‘killed tens of thousands of people, including children,’ a clearly defamatory attack that shocked the moderators, press, and public alike,”

Trump did the same thing and won. Let’s hope this catches on as the left has a much bigger propensity to say those things as they get carried away.

She’s good for at least the 8 million bucks she got for trading defense stocks while on the armed services committee. Dirty skank.

Good!
The opioid problem began in CA back in the late 90’s.
I remember hearing about a heroin death in Santa Cruz and was shocked.
Then a friend of mine told me she got addicted to Oxycontin.
CA did NOTHING to stop the problem.

Galen Publishing and opioid materials

Ciattarelli owned Galen Publishing until he sold it in 2017.

From 2008 to 2017, the company had a contract with the University of Tennessee’s pharmacy school to provide accredited continuing education materials. Galen Publishing received more than $12 million in grants, mostly from pharmaceutical companies, to produce these materials.

Some of the published materials, including a piece on opioid usage, were criticized for allegedly downplaying the risks of opioid abuse for chronic pain patients.

Hmm. It would seem he has a decent basis to sue to defamation.

She is desperate. She doesn’t care about NJ, but she’s thinking of her political career.

So, she lashed out with that lie. Jack looked stunned, but I wish he’d hit back with a better response. Now, some clueless voters really believe he’s responsible for the deaths of thousands of people.

I wish he’d hit back: “That literature was about pain management. Some people suffer from pain. Sometimes, patients need painkillers. My opponent seems to think they shouldn’t have access to painkillers.”

Then, he could have made other points:

If he weren’t supportive of assisted suicide, he could’ve added: “Mikey is OK with giving people a suicide pill when they’re in pain... but not painkillers?”

And, if he weren’t supportive of legalized cannabis, he could’ve added: “Mikey is fine with legalized weed, even though 30% of the product in dispensaries was found to contain rat poison. But she doesn’t think people in pain should have painkillers?”

But he can’t hit back with those last two points because he supports MAID and legalized dispensaries. He’s more like a fiscally conservative Democrat.
