Story with a pro-union slant, but the real story is on there if you look closely.

Mo money!
Mo money!

“Union members say they haven’t had a cost-of-living increase since 2021”

And, isn’t that the year when the AutoPen began its rule?

The LA Times does not make a profit. The New York Times is a money maker, due to its vast base of digital subscriptions.

Lovely. "The union has shrunk from 450 members to just above 200 over the last two years, the L.A. Times Guild said."

"Congress voted to eliminate funding for public media across the country. Here at LAist that means a loss of $1.7 million in our budget every year." So SEND MONEY! SEND MONEY! DONATE! DONATE!

Funny thing, until you posted the link, I'd not heard of the site, a "voice you know and trust."

Turns out, "LAist is part of Southern California Public Radio, a member-supported public media network."

And they miss their federal money. They'll be missing it for another three years and many months, longer if another Republican wins in 2028. Bye.

But the game has changed: Congress voted to eliminate funding for public media across the country. Here at LAist that means a loss of $1.7 million in our budget every year. We want to assure you that despite growing threats to free press and free speech, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust.

The LAist is a typical leftist rag. Free speech is only that which is funded by the government. Maybe we should have a separation of news and state the way we have separation of church and state....

Due to AI, how many reporters do you really need?

Leftist journalism is going broke because Trump has already done what needs to be done. All we have to do is watch the show and enjoy the howling.

“”The union has shrunk from 450 members to just above 200 over the last two years, the L.A. Times Guild said.”

it’s gonna shrink even more if the strike extracts higher salaries: net payroll will be same, just fewer employees ...

this is the first-ever strike authorization by the L.A. Times Guild, which was formed in 2018

In Octobr, 1910, union goons bombed the LA Times, killing 21 and injuring more than 100. For more than a century afterwards, the Times refused to allow its employees to unionize.

LOL, does anyone still subscribe to the LA Times?

I’m surprised they’re still in businesss

I remember as a kid nearly every driveway in the neighborhood had an LA Times on the driveway.

Now? I walk my dogs in a three-four block radius in my area and other areas in them morning and never see LA Times on anyone’s driveway - they’re becoming increasingly hard to find for sale anywhere and I have not seen a newspaper stand where you put in coins to get a newspaper in ages.

The LA Times lost $50 million last year. It has a total subscriber (print + digital) of ~335,000 in 2025, down from a target of 5 million.

Good luck on getting your jobs back, union workers.

The owner needs to start replacing the reporters and editors with AI.

Leftist propaganda has no need for humans.

Let them strike, AI can right just as asinine and left wing biased articles as they can.

LA Times is probably going to die before the WP

Both will eventually be online only with little content, few employees and a tiny subscription base.
