Last month was the third-warmest September on record globally, behind 2024 and 2023, according to new data analyzed by the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S). The planet’s average surface air temperature was around 61 degrees Fahrenheit.

While global air and sea surface temperatures are currently falling short of new record highs, climate scientists warn the pause in record-breaking warmth is unlikely to persist as human-caused greenhouse gas emissions continue to drive the long-term warming trend.

As a reminder, "on record" means since Daniel Fahrenheit's thermometer invented the thermometer in the 18th century. Another way to put it, we don't have official temperature records from prior warming periods like the Medieval Warm Period, Roman Warm Period (time of Christ) or the Minoan Warm Period (Era of Judges).

Good point, for the sake of argument, let's all agree the earth is over 10,000 years old.

We have about 250 years of scientific temperature records, and maybe 150 years of finely calibrated thermometers.

so we have 150 years out of 10,000 . That's a maximum of 1.5% of recorded history.

would you believe in a maximum, best case, 1.5% accuracy in any data?

My my... They are getting clever... After years of headlines saying this is the ‘hottest ever’ whatever... People tune out and don’t even look at the story.

By saying it’s the ‘3rd-warmest’ ever, they fool those browsing headlines into thinking that this is a ‘legitimate’ global warming story with a possible grain of truth... But no... It’s the same nonsense they’ve been spewing since Al Gore invented Global Warming.
