GLP-1 medications, Ozempic and Wegovy, may disrupt cancer imaging and its diagnosis, new research has revealed. GLP-1 agonists were first designed for type 2 Diabetes treatment, but over time, they grew popular for their non-approved use in weight loss.

GLP-1 (Glucagon-Like Peptide-1) is a hormone that helps lower blood sugar and control appetite by increasing insulin and slowing digestion.

The adverse effects of GLP-1 weight-loss medications have varied from mild to bizarre, ranging from deflated breasts and unexpected pregnancies to drooping jowls and sulphurous burps. Now, radiologists and imaging experts have identified a new issue: patients on these medications exhibit different uptake patterns on PET-CT scans.

It’s had all the testing of the Covid shot.

I’m on them for diabetes. All my numbers are now perfect and diabetic husband followed in jealousy and now his numbers are moving toward perfect. I’m healthier than I’ve been in decades. Closest thing to a miracle drug I’ve ever taken. If the symptoms go bad in another ten years, I’m sufficiently old that I probably wouldn’t be around to know about it. BEST DRUG EVER!

Losing a ton of weight allows women to become more likely to get pregnant. This happened to my sister, who lost 50 lbs (20 years before Ozembic) and was surprised with a baby.

Unexpected pregnancies??

Did someone mistake it for a birth control pill?

“Unexpected pregnancies?? Did someone mistake it for a birth control pill?”

No, fat girls became thin, and thus got “lucky”.

Not really “unexpected”. Kind of the point, actually.

My father-in-law is on it and it gives him uncontrollable scours with very little notice. He hangs around the toilet all day.

Actually have worked with bariatric patients who state that a side effect of weight loss was quite an increased libido.

I have a close relative who’s been on it for a little over a week for diabetes. He reports it is very effective - down 10 pounds, but he really didn’t have 10 pounds extra to lose. Total appetite wipeout and if he tries to force food, up it comes again. He won’t be continuing the regimen.

Prescribed for me for heart failure with normal LVEF

it helps I think

265 to 232 in 11 weeks

7.5 mg now weekly in thigh

Self administered

Starting 10 mg next month

Goal around 200

I’m 6 foot 4 inches shrank from six five

You can tell when u take it

A little acid reflux upon swallowing

And you simply cannot eat abundantly without some mild nausea

That passes within 2-3 days after injection

I like it and im glad Medicare covers it

Ozempic isn’t crazy money

150-200 a month from NPs who have it freelance

That’s my skinny on it

Being thin as reasonable is for me likely to add years to my life

CHF will ultimately kill me of course

It’s for diabetes but I’m lucky I never and don’t have the sugars

Zepbound seems slightly preferable for CHF

I’m sure this treatment will evolve

Entirely proper to consider possible adverse side effects of those medications. But those have to be weighed - pun intended - against all the confirmed negative health consequences of remaining significantly overweight.

You mean a drug which suppresses cellular sugar uptake suppresses cellular sugar uptake? Wow, whooda thunk?

The reader takeaway should be that sugar (fructose) causes cancer, and that PET scans prove it.

The OZ does not affect me that way. When I developed type 2 20 years ago, my BMs became very irregular, every 2-3 days and remain that way.

I’d go sit in the bathroom just like always before work and...nothing would happen lol.

I’m sure it’s a couple of things.

They just feel better not being huge and fat. You feel better, you are more inclined to want to mess around. Do you want to have sex when you have the flu or a newly broken leg? No. Same idea.

Fat also produces tons of hormones all on its own and mutes other hormones. I’m sure that’s part of the reason.

And, let’s face it, healthy people are more attractive.

I notice no primary or secondary effects after injecting the OZ.

YMMV
