Legacy media have spent years perpetuating some of the biggest hoaxes in modern history — and it appears the American public is continuing to notice.
On Thursday, Gallup released the results of its annual survey of Americans’ confidence in media. The poll’s baseline finding is that trust in the country’s “Democracy dies in darkness!” crowd is at the lowest point ever recorded.
According to the survey, just 28 percent of Americans expressed having a “‘great deal’ or ‘fair amount’ of trust in newspapers, television and radio to report the news fully, accurately and fairly.” That figure, Gallup noted, “is down from 31% last year and 40% five years ago,” and “marks the first time the measure has fallen below 30%.”
“Meanwhile, seven in 10 U.S. adults now say they have ‘not very much’ confidence (36%) or ‘none at all’ (34%),” the report reads.
Gallup highlighted how trust in media has declined among Americans of all political backgrounds.
While more Democrats and independents expressed “great” or “fair” confidence in the media (51 percent and 27 percent, respectively) than Republicans (8 percent), “the percentages with high confidence in reporting are at low points among all party groups.” Republicans’ 8 percent figure is the first time their level of trust in the media has dropped to single digits, according to the survey.
Gallup also flagged a stark divide among differing age groups when it comes to trust in legacy media. The poll found that while confidence in the press has declined across the board, a greater percentage of older Americans (65 and up) expressed having faith in media than younger Americans.

Some CNN fame just cut off the speaker of the house stating “that is not true”

It is more than I don’t trust them. I want them shut down for lying. All of the mainstream media who have done this must lose their licenses and be shuttered.
Did the poll have a choice of “lower than crocodile tits?”
It would die if everyone on the right quit linking and airing clips of them. Our side is keeping them on life support.
Look at their audiences. Baby Boomers are the last generation that has any trust in the corporate media. The average age of the viewing audience for these channels is ancient.
The median audience for CNN is 67
The median audience for MSNBC is 70 or 71
The median audience for ABC is 55
The median audience for NBC is 57
The median audience for CBS is 58
The median audience for PBS is 72
(I admit I’m a little surprised the network audiences are that young).
What are the Democrats going to do 10 years from now when the Baby Boom Generation is significantly smaller? Their primary propaganda tool will hardly be viewed by anybody.

BTW, the primary deception of media isn't the political bias or even the outright lying.
It's the pretense that they know what is going on.

The mainstream media deserves being shut down. Needs restarting without the inherent biasness of its owners.

The bloods in the water. The lamestream media and press who have built them selves up as the arbiters of truth have because of there own lapses in morals and character have painted huge targets on their backs. Look at the 2019 Lincoln Memorial confrontation, the suits against the view and many many others.
The Harris interview cost the lame stream media plenty and now they do it again!?!?!?!?!?
I will say it again.
We need the FCC to enforce truth and accuracy in reporting, edit as you wish but that editing must be noted and the full text, full video must be available for review. With the internet and cloud storage this is no longer a undo burden and is needed now to stop the wholesale fabrication of news and events.
Corrections or miss statements MUST be given the same amount of play as the WRONG or INCORRECT statements or videos when broadcast the first time, be it 10 minutes, 20 minutes 30 minutes if the media source trumped it MUST be one to one.
If they the media did a 1 hour broadcast that was wrong, incorrect or lies then they must do a second broadcast of 1 hour at the same time slot explaining that they were wrong, incorrect or had lied.
A large banner should be run at the bottom of any video STATING that the SOURCE is unnamed, unverified, if an audio broadcast the statement should be made at the start, at the middle and at the end.
The news media pundits will gnash their collective teeth moaning and groaning and will say this will place a chilling restrain on the freedom of the press. It will not. It will stop them from running head long in to judgment that has elevated numinous numbers of fake stories, staged a hate crimes and out right character assignations accusations that have ruined many innocent lives. They will be forced to fact check diligently because they will be held monetarily and criminally libel for miss-reporting the facts.
Truth in reporting will offer up a shield to the small groups, to individuals, people who have had their lives, liberty's, property, impacted by incorrect reporting without due process of law. Words and actions have consequences.
If any of this is not done then the FCC should fine and or remove and or suspend broadcast licenses. Keep pushing wrong, incorrect or lies in news stories and have your broadcast rights removed.
We have truth in advertising laws, why no accuracy in reporting laws? There has always been yellow journalism that is based upon sensationalism and crude exaggeration. But with the advent of the internet there is almost no ability to get out in front of even boldfaced lies that are pushed today over and over.
There should be no editing or exerting with out posting the entire text or video or audio on line and if there is no confirmation and the source in unknown or not named. That should be flashed at the beginning and end of that report. If a photo is cropped the original should be also available for review.
For to long the public has been denied the full information, the full story and unfortunately as it has been shown time and time again. The news media's take on events can no longer be taken at face value because of paid, yes paid partisan behavior and down right bias.
The news media once would state the facts with no taint of partisanship and now all we get is paid partisanship and fascist like bias. News media sources have become extended commercials of talking heads spewing single twisted points of view shouting down all others in a head long rush to try and brain wash the masses.
All you have to do is listen and you will see that they (The news conglomerates, the multi national media empires) no longer are in it for the truth but have become corrupt with power, influence and money.
It's time to rein them in. If this is not done and done soon the blood in the water will not be a metaphor anymore but a reality. Call someone a radical, a racist, say they are supremacists and other vile erroneous lies.
They did that to Charlie Kirk enough that an atifa furry loving monster took it on him self to murder a truth teller, a true American, a good christian, father and husband.
We the people will not stand for this.
