Hertz's partnership with Amazon is another step in the e-commerce giant's slow march into auto sales. The deal could be a boon for the rental car giant, which is trying to sell more of its cars directly to consumers. Some experts say the shift toward direct online sales, especially involving e-commerce giants like Amazon, could spell trouble for dealerships, possibly even large publicly traded companies such as AutoNation, Group1, Sonic Automotive, Penske, and Asbury. Wholesale auction companies such as Manheim and AVC are also liable to be watching the shift, as direct to consumer sales could threaten their inventories.

Nissan reportedly seeks Saudi Arabia's PIF and future collaboration with FoxconnNissan, long a pillar of Japan's automotive industry, is facing deepening financial troubles and is now turning to an unexpected potential lifeline: Saudi Arabia's powerful sovereign wealth fund, the Public Investment Fund (PIF).

According to Automobilwoche, Nissan is in active discussions with PIF, signaling a possible shift away from earlier rumored partners such as Honda and Taiwanese manufacturing giant Foxconn(2317.TW). While both Honda and Foxconn had reportedly explored opportunities with Nissan, neither engagement has produced a concrete outcome.
PIF is no stranger to the electric vehicle (EV) space. It holds a controlling stake -- reportedly around 60% -- in US-based EV startup Lucid Motors, with total investments reaching US$8 billion. PIF also launched its own Saudi EV brand, Ceer Motors, in partnership with Foxconn, as part of the ambitious plans to diversify its economy and invest heavily in future mobility technologies.
Industry analysts say a deal between PIF and Nissan would not necessarily conflict with Foxconn's interests. Foxconn has publicly stated its intention to participate in Nissan's future only as a Tier 1 supplier -- providing contract manufacturing services, rather than taking on any ownership role.

Or not.
Probably not.
You will own nothing.
“Wanna Hertz donut?”
{{FIST TO THE BICEPS}}
“Hurts, don’ it?”
—Seventies grade school “joke”.
“Want a couple of acres free?” was worse.
Oh, no, does this mean I’ll lose my entire financial empire?!?
I bought a car from the Enterprise used car lot, many years ago, very happy with it. My credit union (which it turned out wouldn’t loan me the money) did say that retired rental cars (particularly from Enterprise) were highly recommended because of the regular service and accurate records.
I bought our 2018 Toyota Avalon in March of 2019 with 23,000 on the odometer from Hertz Motors. It turned out to be a solid deal. 105,000 miles and no issues other than wear parts and regular maintenance (batteries, tires, oil changes, etc.)
Annnd the local economies are even moreso vital to dealerships. 😁
NASA should hire Toyota to build the next lunar rover. I’ve heard tell that they build their cars to last 30 years in the third world.
Avis put us in the Driver’s Seat last year. Nice car, low miles reasonable price.
Rental Car co. have been selling their used cars like any other dealership but Amazon just has to Intrude into everything that puts the Hurts on local retailers in Hometown USA.
