Three people were killed and eight were injured when an alleged U.S. veteran who claimed he was suffering from PTSD fired into a dockside North Carolina restaurant, killing three people and leaving at least one other person fighting for their life.
The suspect was named by the Southport Police Department as Nigel Max Edge, arrested and charged with three counts of first-degree murder, five counts of attempted first-degree murder, and five counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, with additional charges pending.
“We believe that this was a targeted location,” Southport Police Chief Todd Coring stated at a press conference. “He acted in what we call a ‘lone wolf.’ He acted alone. This is highly premeditated from what we are seeing at this time and we feel that there are no other threats to our community, that we do have someone in custody.”
He added that an active investigation is underway.
Coring continued that the suspect was identified as a combat veteran injured in the line of duty and said he suffered from PTSD.
“On Saturday, September 27, 2025 at approximately 9:30 PM, members of the Southport Police Department were dispatched to calls of shots fired with multiple injuries at the American Fish Company, located at 150 Yacht Basin Dr, Southport, NC 28461,” the Southport, North Carolina, Facebook page stated. “Just prior, a boat with a single occupant traveling on the Cape Fear River, paused briefly at the American Fish Company and opened fire, fatally wounding three patrons, and injuring at least eight others. The boat then fled the area, towards the Intracoastal Waterway in the direction of Oak Island. Shortly after 10:00 PM, the U.S. Coast Guard observed a single individual matching the description of the shooter, loading their boat at the...

A soft target?
I wonder what prescription psychotropic medications he was taking?
Robert “Max Cady” DeNiro was the first thing that came to my mind.
DeNiro was good in the remake, but not as good as Mitchum in 1962. One of the scariest film noir ever made!
The difference is, DeNiro was just being himself. No acting required.
Other sources have indicated that he was a local with a known history of ‘issues’.
I found this, but not being a lawyer, can’t make heads or tales of it. Anyone?
“Nigel Max Edge v. The United States of America, et. al” filed earlier this year.

Looks like he was into filing nuisance lawsuits. Lots and lots and lots of them.
Walking wounded, but that doesn’t excuse his actions.
I’ve never had the nerve to watch more than a few minutes of either one.
I’ve never had the nerve to watch more than a few minutes of either one.
How (and Who) decides who is ‘crazy’? That seems like what they call a ‘slippery slope’...
Indeed - very hard to do so to protect the public without stepping all over everyone else’s rights.
Definitely a nut case: Some of his law suits
“The suit, filed in May, claimed the Generations Church was behind a “civil conspiracy” masterminded by the LGBTQ community and white supremacist pedophiles to kill Edge because he’s “a straight man.”
In January, Edge filed a similar suit against the Brunswick Medical Center, accusing it of being part of a conspiracy launched by “LGBTQ White Supremacists” who were allegedly out to get him because he survived their attack in Iraq
Both lawsuits were dismissed with prejudice, according to court records.
The wild claims in the lawsuits echo those detailed in a book written by Nigel when he went by Sean DeBevoise, “Headshot: Betrayal of a Nation,” where he claims that he was shot four times, including in the head, by friendly fire over an international conspiracy.
He claims he served in the Marines Corps and was deployed to Haiti and then served two tours in Iraq when he found himself in the middle of the conspiracy ring.”
Sounds like a man who needed serious help, probably a long time ago.
I was in that restaurant 6 days ago…
