Supreme Court allows Trump to withhold $4 billion in foreign aid funding

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Friday handed another win to the Trump administration by allowing it to withhold $4 billion in spending on foreign aid that was appropriated by Congress.

A federal judge had previously ruled that the administration would have to spend the funds by the end of the month, but the Supreme Court's decision puts that on hold.

The brief order noted that the government has made a "sufficient showing" that the groups that sued were barred from bringing the lawsuit in question under a law called the Impoundment Control Act.

The court, which has a 6-3 conservative majority, also noted that "the asserted harms to the Executive’s conduct of foreign affairs appear to outweigh the potential harm" to the plaintiffs, which are various groups that receive foreign aid funds.

The SCOTUS said the harm to the executive branch outweighed the harm to the plaintiffs (the groups bringing the suit).

I don’t see them changing their minds.

“Allows,” as if the Supreme Court is the Supreme ruler and everyone is solely at their behest.

That is NOT how the founders set up this nation.

Agreed! Ali will probably kick the dog and drown the cat. After drinking copious amounts of high-dollar booze (paid for with our tax dollars) of course.

They keep using that word “allows.”

I do not think it means what they think it means.

I saw that as well. It must be hard on her knowing the show is on the other foot for another 20 years minimum.

They elucidated that these silly lower court micromanaging the executive via lawfare harms outweigh any demands plaintiff might endure

The court majority knows what’s going on

Leftist ngo mostly lawfare is challenging every thing Trump does

At a rate 22/1 I read versus what we did to Biden

And they bring it in sympathetic courts downstream

It slows Trump a bit

But usually less than a month

Exactly. Why does POTUS need permission to do his job? The voters gave him permission.

Cbs and AP say “let’s”

Allow and let’s are not usual court terms

I can’t find the actual ver batim ruling

I doubt scotus ever said “we allow Trump “

But hey yall have fun

If im wrong yall can rub my noses in it

Sottomayor and Kunta Kinte Brown would probably like to write rulings that way
