Australia would reverse its decision on Palestinian state recognition if there is a change of government in Australia, the country’s Opposition Leader and Liberal Party head, Sussan Ley, told Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, Sa’ar later revealed in a X/Twitter post on Monday.

Ley, believing that Australia’s decision rewards Hamas, noted her disappointment at “this break with bipartisanship and reiterated the Coalition’s long-held position that recognition must only come at the end of a genuine two-state process,” she wrote, also in a X/Twitter post. “Now is the wrong time while Hamas holds hostages and while conflict still rages.

The Australian official added that she spoke up for the concerns of her country’s Jewish community and the rise of antisemitism, as well as the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. She then expressed her hope for the remaining 48 hostages in Gaza to be released, as well as for a halt to the fighting….

“...that recognition must only come at the end of a genuine two-state process...”

I wish many out there would get it thru their heads that there is never gonna be a viable two-state solution. Israel is done negotiating away their land and the Palestinians will never agree to it.

“”” Liberal Party head, Sussan Ley. Ley, believing that Australia’s decision rewards Hamas, noted her disappointment at “this break with bipartisanship and reiterated the Coalition’s long-held position that recognition must only come at the end of a genuine two-state process,” “”””

In Australia the Liberal Party are the supposed Conservatives. They are more like our RINO’s.

That being said, what Ley wrote is similar to the ‘word salad’ coming from Kamala Harris’s mouth.

Everything is relative I guess. What/who is more conservative than Albanese, currently?

Oftentimes, the leader of a country makes a decision which most of the people of the country would not agree with.

Recognition of a terror state is one of those. If a decision can be easily reversed by a new administration, it should never have been made in the first place.

Most Israelis are familiar with the significant contribution of Aussie/Kiwi troops in liberating Israel from the Ottoman empire (Battle of Beer Sheva 1917, etc.).

And Israel has a permanent monument to commemorate that victory and thank the 15,000 troops involved in achieving it.

The current Australian government is a train-wreck right behind that of UK and France and Spain. How supposedly modern and civilized peoples can wind up with such immoral trash in their governments — escapes rational understanding (but we had Bush and Obama and almost had Kerry and HilLIARy and Romney.....so USA is not immune from this political poison..)
