Europe is preparing to occupy the tiny nation of Moldova with the first group of Nato troops ready for a "landing" in Ukraine's Odessa, Russian news agency Sputnik reported on Tuesday, citing the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR). Moldovan authorities, meanwhile, have arrested 74 people in connection with an alleged Moscow-backed plot to stage a mass uprising in the former soviet European nation. Is Moldova becoming the latest flashpoint in Europe's battle with Russia?
The raids come ahead of Moldova's September 28 elections, amid claims of rigging, Russian backing for a party, and Putin's alleged plot to "hijack the polls". On Sunday, Moldovans will vote for a new 101-seat legislature in an election widely seen as a choice between pursuing EU integration or strengthening ties with Russia, news agency Associated Press reported.
Russian news agency TASS claimed that the Nato military units had landed in Romania close to the Moldovan border and were also planning a "landing" in Ukraine's Odessa region.
Russia has been fighting a war with Ukraine for 3 years now over Kiev's desire to join Nato. Like Moldova, Ukraine was also a Soviet republic.

Expect western media to stay mum as long as possible, and then spin like mad if they do have to cover this story. Note that NATO operatives have been at work for some time, with pro-NATO traitors violating the Constitution in their push to put Moldova under NATO control.

Moldova is overwhelmingly pro-West/anti-Ruseia. If the legal government of Moldova wants to invite in neighbors to ensure the pro-Russian minority doesn’t try to seize power with Russian backing, good for them.
If you send troops inside the borders of another sovereign nation - in this case Moldova - they're not "peacekeepers". They're invaders.
No different than if Mexico sent troops into border regions of our country to "protect" people of Mexican ethnicity.
When Moldova was founded by the USSR, it was formed from territory mostly taken from Romania and then then they added the Russian area of Transnistria to it.
When the USSR broke up, it was thought that Moldova would reunite with Romania, and the Trinitarians does not want this. They also do not want to be part of independent Moldova.
Now you have Russians in Transnistria stranded away from Russia between Moldova and Ukraine.
The way the USSR carved out their territories is still causing problems today, much like the way the British and French carved up the Middle East after WW1 is still causing issues today.
There are two area in Georgia with similar issues ongoing to this day.

What Russia is actually doing is signally it is getting ready to occupy Moldova; and they wanted an excuse so they invented one.
