Nexstar Media Group Inc. said it will begin preempting Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday’s return broadcast, joining Hunt Valley-based Sinclair Broadcast Group in pulling the show for the foreseeable future.
ABC had said Monday it would reinstate the late-night show despite criticism of Kimmel’s comments about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. But both Sinclair and Texas-based Nexstar said they objected to Kimmel’s remarks and would replace the program with alternative content across their ABC affiliates.

How dare they infringe on his first amendment rights! /s
But please keep boycotting Disney.
YAY!!
I would be great to see a month of Johnnny Carson reruns and watch the ratings soar.
Nice to see Sinclair and Nectar standing up for what they believe.
I gave up on late night television when Leno retired. Night time is for sleeping. Kimmel, Colbert and Fallon have never uttered a word that is worth losing sleep over.

Local Tampa 13 did blah blah story just now — conveniently did not mention this, only the Sinclair.
So if true, his audience will shrink from one million to less than 600,000 making his show very unprofitable. I see this as a 6 month exit plan for Kimmel’s show and his employees.
GOOGLE AI:
Nexstar operates more than 30 ABC affiliate stations, with recent reports citing specific numbers like 32 and “more than 28” owned by the company, though the exact figure varies slightly in reporting. The company owns over 200 stations across the country in total and is the largest local television station owner in the U.S.
Key details about Nexstar’s ABC affiliates:
Nexstar owns a substantial number of ABC-affiliated stations, with recent reports putting the total at over 30.
The company is the largest owner of local TV stations in the United States.
Nexstar operates more than 200 stations in total across the U.S.
GOOGLE AI:
Sinclair owns or controls 39 ABC-affiliated stations nationwide, making it the largest owner of ABC affiliates in the country. This was a key point in a recent decision by the company to preempt Jimmy Kimmel Live! on these stations due to remarks the host made about Charlie Kirk, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Key points:
Number of stations: Sinclair owns 39 ABC-affiliated stations.
Significance: This is the largest number of ABC affiliates held by any station group.
Context: The number of affiliates was highlighted in recent news about Sinclair preempting Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
What they do: Sinclair is known for operating local news and having a strong influence on political content, even having the ability to force “must-run” segments on its affiliated stations, according to the Daily Beast.
“” But both Sinclair and Texas-based Nexstar said they objected to Kimmel’s remarks and would replace the program with alternative content across their ABC affiliates.””
Thus proving....
“Don’t mess with Texas”.
Good for Nexstar & Sinclair. ABC caved and wussied out. Their mistake and nobody is really surprised, considering their political bent. Kimmel ‘thought’ he could pull some strings, have his commie buds push their weight around and reinstate his show. Kimmel thought wrong and we’re still having the last laugh.
Sometimes when raising our children, the best thing to do is let them suffer the consequences of their behavior.
Maybe ABC is letting Kimmel experience the consequence of his actions and at the same time save a ton of money on lawsuits.
When Kimmel sees handwriting on the wall he may choose to go quietly.
Kimmel is done. It’s only a matter of time now. His excessively large staff has some breathing room to polish up their resumes or take a quick coding course.
This will give independent stations a chance to bid. Since WCIV (36.2) is a Sinclair station in Charleston, Disney-ABC Television Distribution could ask WGWG-TV 4, an independent station, to acquire Kimmel at 11:35.
There will be some independent stations in those markets ABC could call for syndication rights and have them bid on Kimmel, making more revenue.
The other option is to use Disney+/Hulu as a bargaining chip. They can block the alternative programming put on by Nexstar or Sinclair and simply air Kimmel in that slot because in streaming, there is NO payment to the local broadcast affiliate. Disney+, Hulu, YouTube TV, Fubo, et al, the skinny bundles, will simply block the affiliate’s programming and Disney will direct Kimmel Live to be broadcast instead on those bundles. They can do that because the cheque will not be in the mail to the local broadcaster since streaming is not subject to the Cable Act’s rules on retransmission consent.

BRILLIANT comment!
We will see if Disney is that stupid.....
Who am I kidding. Of course they are that stupid.
Maybe PBS will pick up the show. I can see it now, 10 minutes of Trump bashing followed by 10 minutes of fundraising.
