Rainn Wilson Recounts Liberal Friends Having a ‘Kind of a Good Riddance’ Response to Charlie Kirk’s Killing

On his “Soul Boom” podcast Wednesday, “The Office” star Rainn Wilson recounted some of his liberal friends having a “kind of a good riddance” reaction to the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk last week.

“I spoke to a couple of — let’s say — some liberal friends last night at an event, and they were like, ‘You won’t find me shedding any tears,’ and someone else was like, ‘Oh well.’ There was a little bit of a, kind of a good riddance thing, and it’s like, ‘Guys, no,” he told actor Mark Ruffalo.

“We cannot think or talk that way. That is not okay.”

Earlier in the podcast, Wilson noted that while he didn’t agree with Kirk’s ideas, “shooting someone that we disagree with, even if they’re vociferous and loud and out there, is so colossally wrongheaded.”

"Murdering people is bad."

Thanks Dwight. That took courage.

It shouldn’t take courage to say that. It really amazes me that so many think it’s perfectly ok to murder someone you disagree with. I still can’t wrap my head around it.

It wouldn’t take much courage for a plumber to say such a thing. But for an actor, yes. Rainn didn’t do his career any favors there. So I’ll give him a bit of credit.

Oh, and sorry Dwight. Most people pick either you or Michael as their favorite “Office” character. But not me. Angela is my favorite.

Me, too. The country is in dire danger from such thought.

Good point.

This is about as much courage as anyone in Hollywood has shown.

I've actually never watched the show but I feel like I should.

“Jamie Lee Curtis cries about Charlie Kirk killing: ‘He was a man of faith’

Jamie Lee Curtis is feeling emotional about the killing of Charlie Kirk.

“The ‘Freakier Friday’ star, 66, cried on the ‘WTF with Marc Maron’ podcast while discussing the Turning Point USA cofounder’s recent assassination.”

The problem is pretty straight forward; there is a small group of Democrats that we should eliminate from our society.
Until you recognize that, the murders will continue.
Because YOU refuse to lock mentally ill people away
from normal people.

His parents were hippies, so whatever his current political affiliations, he probably doesn’t have much taste for bullshat.

Eliminate, as put those people where they can
not hurt people that disagree with them.
Read into that what you wish.
There no one single solution.
I would start here.
If you make threats in a public
forum you should be removed from the public
forum.
Antifa is a good example of a group of people we should eliminate from our society. I think trying to raise their food in the Sahara of Africa would be a good start.

Good to know Rainn Wilson has some common sense and decency; I already knew that the grody Mark Ruffalo does not.

I didn’t watch “The Office” during its first run. Don’t know why. Too busy working, I guess.

Then I caught it in reruns. It is a brilliant comedy. I highly recommend it. I even bought the entire series on DVD. And every time I rewatch an episode, I catch something new.

It’s presented as a mock documentary. So there’s no laugh track. I like that.

Two suggestions:

1. If you’re not going to watch it from the very first episode, read the Wikipedia entry on the show to get an idea who the characters are.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Office_(American_TV_series)#Characters

2. The show’s quality really declined after Season 7, when Steve Carell left the show. So I’d skip seasons 8 and 9.

The gun grabbers try to push gun control any time there is one of these events.

Well what gun control measure would have prevented this? Background check? Nope. Waiting period? Nope. So-called “assault weapons” ban (they won’t define what an “assault weapon even is)? Nope. What then? This was a hunting rifle and a rather old one at that. No it was not a “weapon of war” unless you are talking WWI or WWII possibly and that ended 80 years ago. The only gun control measure that would have prevented this is total confiscation. This was one of the guns they claim they had no problem with.

I’ll have to check it out.

I would also argue that the era of television that spanned GW Bush’s second term through Obama’s first term was some of the highest quality TV produced. This was the era that gave us Breaking Bad, Mad Men, 30 Rock, Game of Thrones, and so many others.

Even though Hollywood then was still the abode of liberals, they still understood that their job was to entertain us. Sometime during Obama’s second term, they pivoted away from entertaining us to “educating” and scolding us. Wokeness took over.

And then Trump was elected and the entire industry went totally off the rails.
