Already suing newspapers for billions over their reporting, president now cheers removal of late-show host
ABC's decision to pull late-show host Jimmy Kimmel off the air marks what observers see as an escalation in a campaign by U.S. President Donald Trump and his allies to pressure media critics into silence.
The network announced it was indefinitely pre-empting Jimmy Kimmel Live!, just as taping of the show's Wednesday night episode was about to begin, after Kimmel came under fire for a line in a monologue that referenced the man accused of killing prominent Trump supporter Charlie Kirk.
This follows a series of multibillion-dollar lawsuits by Trump against major news outlets, as well as CBS's announcement that it's cancelling The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, another comedian who frequently skewers the president.
It's all prompting concerns from free-speech activists that the White House is cracking down on Americans' cherished First Amendment rights by putting financial, legal and regulatory pressure on media companies.
What happened to Kimmel "fits into a pattern" of the administration trying to punish news outlets and media personalities who criticize Trump and his policies, says Conor Fitzpatrick, a senior attorney with the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, a Washington-based advocacy group.
"These are dark times for free speech in the United States," Fitzpatrick told CBC News in an interview...
ABC News, CBS News, NBC News, The New York Times, The Washington Post, DRUDGE! and yes... Even the Canadian Broadcasting Company and a whole host of other countries liberal minded press organizations... And it's dark times for 'Free Speech' ???

The “Man Show”, which Kimmel glorified for five years is absolutely everything that triggers the left. I’m not sure how the left pretends he is so virtuous?
Kimmel was not removed for practicing his free speech rights. He was fired for violating FCC rules.
I think a lot of loony lefties are being fired by employers that were just wanting an excuse to do just that.

We really need to start looking beyond TV for these leftists. For years now, the left (especially the militant alphabet people) have been waging a long march through gaming companies, and there’s an X user called Grummz who has been calling them out. For example, a couple of days ago a couple of producers at Bethesda put up posts (and a video) mocking the Kirk killing. The response from Bethesda? Crickets.
I can’t speak for most gaming companies but Bethesda has been really woke for quite some time. First there is Elder Scrolls Online, where there is no shortage of quests you have to run that are from gay characters and couples. And then there was the “type 1/type 2” character-creation gender scandal that came up with the Elder Scrolls: Oblivion remake. And now this. We really need to start paying close attention to what these game companies are embedding into their games.
As for me, I enjoyed Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, but they’ve lost an Elder Scrolls 6 customer when it comes out.

Trump didn’t call anybody to get Kimmel fired... They just got rid of him out of common sense... The man hasn’t been a talk show host, nor a comedian since Trump ran for President... Kimmel has been afflicted with a serious case of Trump Derangement Syndrome... And allowing him a platform to display his sickness on a nightly basis is not a good look for ABC.
