Dozens of haredim protest outside Prison 10, block a van carrying detained draft dodgers, and manage to free one of them despite a heavy presence. Two soldiers lightly injured
Dozens of haredim rioted Wednesday evening during a protest outside Prison 10, where detained haredi draft dodgers are being held.
The protesters clashed with security forces in the area, blocking a van transporting approximately 20 haredi draft dodgers into the prison.
Despite the presence of significant security personnel, the demonstrators succeeded in freeing one of the detainees from the vehicle.
During the confrontation protesters hurled rocks and used tear gas. Two IDF soldiers were lightly injured by the tear gas, received treatment at the scene, and did not require evacuation.
The IDF issued a statement saying: "The IDF views this incident with utmost severity and condemns any action against IDF personnel who are working to enforce legal obligations. The IDF will continue to operate in accordance with the law as required"...

We're any hats injured in the skirmish? /EXTREME sarcasm
Any time you think American politics is crazy, take a step inside Israeli politics and learn just how mundane we are. Those folks are wildly different and fractured.
Q: What do you get when you put 10 Jews in a room?
A: 13 opinions!
Bah! Were (auto fill almost hit me again)
Pretty shocking to us Americans the religious in Israel irritate the Left there for obvious reasons but the Right in Israel are also offended on two fronts.
One the religious men preferring religious study to ‘going to work’.
The religious are on welfare.
The other the obligation for military service that these young men refuse to take up.
The men arrested in that van that was attacked were trying to leave Israel for a religious pilgrimage to a holy site in Ukraine of all places.
That there’s funny!
I feel pity for all of them who do not recognize their own Messiah and that's about it.
So many lost when it need not be.
The Lord has his plan I certainly need to get in line with it I watch Israel closely have been since the 1970’s.
I don't pay much attention until something grabs my ears.
Needless to say, Oct. 7 grabbed my ears. Now I'm back to background noise.
True.
If haredim wants secular government support for their families they gotta’ return the favor.
If haredim were completely self supporting....well they could be conscientious objectors...
But for now, they certainly cannot say they abhor the use of force...
They haven't said that. It's not the violence they object to. RTFM.
Are the haredim so obtuse to think that they are safe in their country that is surrounded by people who want to exterminate them that they don’t want to fight if necessary? I think them more like cowards than pious.
I never understood people who would rather die than stand-up for their right to breathe.
It’s about them and their relationship with G-d they don’t even spell the word out it is so revered.
But secular Israelis as I have noted scratch their heads at the sight of this.
Draft dodger?
