Hungary and Slovakia must quit Russian gas and nuclear, Trump envoy warns
Politico ^

BRUSSELS — U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright has called on the EU’s remaining buyers of Russian fossil fuels to drop their campaign against the bloc’s efforts to end dependency on Moscow and buy from America instead. Speaking on Friday at an event in Brussels, where he has held meetings this week with officials on how to increase imports of American liquefied natural gas and cut off the flow of funds for Russia’s war on Ukraine, Wright said it would be preferable for Europe to get its supplies from “its friends.” Asked by POLITICO whether countries like Hungary and Slovakia, which have opposed the European Commission’s efforts to phase out Russian gas, should finally end their dealings with the Kremlin, Wright said “absolutely.” “We want to displace all Russian gas. President Trump, America, and all the nations of the EU, we want to end the Russian-Ukraine war,” said Wright. “The more we can strangle Russia’s ability to fund this murderous war, the better for all of us. So the answer to your question is absolutely.”

Trump's envoy saying: “The more we can strangle Russia’s ability to fund this murderous war, the better for all of us. So the answer to your question is absolutely.”

Ideally, America should also end its dependency on Russian Uranium imports. We still import 20% of Russian Uranium for our civil nuclear production...

The hypocrisy and audacity is astounding. No wonder so many Americans have lost all faith in this country’s governing institutions.

Nothing personal, but there appears to be an overabundance of Uranium available from Uranus.

I guess we’ll have to overthrow their governments if they don’t comply. Wouldn’t be the first time we’ve done something like that.

Let's make Slovakia and Hungary just like France against their citizens wishes!

September 10, 2025:

France’s government has collapsed again.

Frogs sure know how to run governments.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people think the whole world needs to be turned upside down for the sake of Ukraine. Hungary and Slovakia are sovereign nations, they should be free to decide who they want to do business with and who they don't. The same applies to India and any other nation.

Just because certain Ukraine-obsessed zealots here seem to think that Kyiv is the center of the universe doesn't mean that the rest of world needs to agree.

Hungary and Slovakia import Russian oil. But not in huge amounts. The big importer is Turkey. They consume 1 million bpd, where consumption could include refining with the refined products sent to Europe.

As for Hungary and Slovakia, and their small totals, it’s not like new pipelines lay themselves. I have heard nothing from the EU about paying for new pipelines for oil that might come from elsewhere.

Note both countries have refineries which are tuned to Russian Urals oil type. I have heard nothing from the EU about paying whatever money undoing that specification would cost.

Gas is another matter. Hungary consumes 8.2 billion cubic meters/yr. Slovakia 4.3 bcm/yr. Neither country has an LNG port. The gas pipelines are already there, to Poland conduiting gas from Belarus/Russia. The EU has not proposed paying for new pipelines from an LNG port somewhere.

As for the US, we consume 900 billion cubic meters of nat gas each year and that is increasing as power plants switch from coal, or new micro power plants running on natgas are installed for data center. We produce 1.033 trillion cubic meters/year. Leaving 100 billion for export, to ALREADY EXISTING CUSTOMERS.

There is no magic. Consumption grows. Production . . . much less so or not at all. When production and consumption are in balance, you cannot erase absolutely ENORMOUS production (Russia’s) and expect there to be no consequences. Someone is not going to get orders filled, and the US nat gas production last year was flat, while consumption rose.

Despite US production of natgas being flat last year (actually down 0.2%) the projections for this year are up, probably about 4%.

It never ceases to amaze me how many of you think this is about Ukraine rather than the nation NATO and American defenses are about, Russia.

Russia and North Korea are engaged in fighting the biggest, bloodiest European War since WWII, as part of a Russian European invasion, Russia is what all this is about and what NATO/America is interested in, Ukraine comes up because it is the focus of Russia’s current invasion and the country where most of the fighting is taking place.

And the U.S. government is telling all these other countries to stop doing business with Russia … while we continue to launch Russian cosmonauts into space on joint NASA-Roscosmos missions.

Can someone please wake me up when this retarded sh!t makes any sense?

When it comes to the Western Ukraine Project, no economic burden is too much for the world economy to bear.

The administration is positioning itself for some bad economics if they don’t knock off this foreign policy & economic stupidity.

Russia doesn't have the military or economic strength to pose a threat to European NATO countries, much less to the United States, unless they decided to be suicidal and launch a nuclear attack.

Russia is struggling to conquer and hold onto a 20% sliver of Ukraine, so the notion that Russia poses a military threat to the rest of Europe, much less to the US, is laughable. A nation that can't even defeat and conquer a country like Ukraine isn't going to have armies marching across Poland or Germany any time soon.

So yes, this is about Ukraine and not about NATO or the United States. A lot of the Ukraine obsessives here talk and act as though Ukraine is a NATO member or perhaps America's 51st state, but it isn't.

The two puppet political parties are completely controlled by the American Establishment through the way the financing of both parties operates. Candidates that don’t “play ball” don’t get financing & are slandered in the media with lies and scandals.

That same Establishment wants to spread western democracy ideology and the economic system that accompanies it into places that don’t care for it.

Will they succeed in their historic mission?

I doubt it.
It is like giving matches, lighters, fireworks, & gasoline to 10 year olds and expecting a house to get built.

No, it is about Russia, Russia expected to take Ukraine easily and quickly with what the world thought was their modernized military similar to the American military, advanced tactics, advanced weapons, lightning strikes, take Ukraine, incorporate it, its military, its population, its manufacturing and resources and strategic positioning.

What happened to Russia is that the lightning strike failed, its military turned out to be the same old Soviet type military, Ukraine turned out to be tougher and saved Kiev, partly because of the weapons President Trump gave them and the training he had American troops in Ukraine giving the Ukrainians.

Today Russia’s timetables are in disarray, the Russia threat to Europe is set back for years, some say up to five years, but it is still there, the long term goals still exist, which is why Europe is arming up and new countries have been or are seeking membership in NATO.

We hate Russia, but we LOVE their gas and oil products more. I still laugh over Germany’s invading Russia in WWII to gain control of the oil fields there, only to end up being dependent on Russian oil for 80+ years afterward.

“Hungary and Slovakia are sovereign nations, they should be free to decide who they want to do business with and who they don’t. The same applies to India and any other nation.”

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

So... following your logic... is Trump Ukraine-obsessed because he demands that two EU members (Slovakia and Hungary) stop mass-importing Russian oil?

I find that just smart and good business. The EU should ideally buy all its oil from America instead (they have already started to do so). Trump is right, we must cut Russia 100% from anything that’s has to do with our Western market.
Let Russia continue its cosy relationship with IRAN, NORTH KOREA, CHINA, and all the other Communist nations of the planet (which Russia evidently is already openly in bed with). Let the commies continue to work together.

I just learned that Slovakia is actually sucking 100% of its oil-needs directly from Russia, yes ALL of it! And that Hungary based on greed and a hefty dose of cynicism went from 65% (pre-war) to near 90% Russian oil imports - as it stands right now in the middle of this war. They do exactly what Trump doesn’t want them to do. They prefer working with Putin instead, to finance and prolong this war.

Subsequently, there will be no Nobel peace price for Orban and Fico...
Trump might get the Nobel peace price if he gets Orban and Fico to cease financing Putin’s war. He’ll also earn it if he ends Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and Crimea.
