NAVAL ACADEMY, Md. —
The U.S. Naval Academy is currently on lockdown, according to a spokesperson for Annapolis police.
"We cannot confirm an active threat, but are searching the area out of an abundance of caution," said Kortlan Jackson, a spokesperson for the police department.

When I was in a military college whenever someone got kicked out, there was always tension in the air. People were always concerned they might lose their shit and come back for revenge.
And that was in the 1970s.

Has this academy ever vetted their applicants, and turned away those with a history of repeated mental problems?
It’s time for them to start doing this, same as one would expect in branches of law enforcement. If his ego was that fragile that he can’t handle rejection, the academy is the wrong place for him and puts everyone else in danger of his possibly armed tantrums.

Students were placed on lockdown out of an abundance of caution. A midshipman who was sheltered in place thought a member of law enforcement was a threat and hit him with a training weapon. Law enforcement then shot the midshipman, who is at a hospital and expected to recover.""A midshipman who was thrown out of the academy made anonymous threats through social media using an IP address in an attempt to make it seem like he was at the academy, according to NBC News.
