U.S. says it will deport Kilmar Abrego Garcia to Eswatini because he fears deportation to Uganda

Attorneys for Immigration and Customs Enforcement said in a Friday letter that they intend to send Kilmar Abrego Garcia to the African nation of Eswatini after he expressed a fear of deportation to Uganda.

The letter from ICE to Abrego Garcia’s attorneys was earlier reported by Fox News. It states that his fear of persecution or torture in Uganda is “hard to take seriously, especially given that you have claimed (through your attorneys) that you fear persecution or torture in at least 22 different countries. ...Nonetheless, we hereby notify you that your new country of removal is Eswatini.”

Eswatini’s government spokesperson told The Associated Press on Saturday that it had no received no communication regarding Abrego Garcia’s transfer there.

The Salvadoran man lived in Maryland for more than a decade before he was mistakenly deported to El Salvador earlier this year. That set off a series of contentious court battles that have turned his case into a test of the limits of President Donald Trump’s hardline immigration policies.

Although Abrego Garcia immigrated to the U.S. illegally around the year 2011, when he was a teenager, he has an American wife and child. A 2019 immigration court order barred his deportation to his native El Salvador, finding he had a credible fear of threats from gangs there. He was deported anyway in March — in what a government attorney said was an administrative error — and held in the country’s notorious Terrorism Confinement Center.

Facing a court order, the Trump administration returned him to the U.S. in June only to charge him with human smuggling based on a 2022 traffic stop in Tennessee. While that court case is ongoing, ICE now seeks to deport him again.

Riddle me this — WHY CAN’T HE BE SENT BACK TO HIS HOME COUNTRY? Isn’t that where he came from? Why the need to send him to some Africa country?

He fears retribution from a rival gang even though he denies being a gang member.

What happens if he claims that he fears being sent to Eswatini?

After a while, this becomes nothing more than theater.

He is afraid of fellow gang members getting him. But then he says he is just a Maryland dad who has nothing to do with gangs. Understand now???

Imagine this dude learning he had an opportunity to be deported to Uruguay, perhaps the nicest country in all of South America, and his lawyers shot it down.

And now's he's off to Eswatini, a poverty-drenched African nation whose #1 export is AIDS.

I was wondering if we could build a prison in the Antarctic for those who are too afraid to return home. They certainly won’t run into any rival gangs there, unless they tick off a penguin somewhere in his past.

That's what I was asking. I don't understand how he can be sent to Eswatini of all places. Are we paying them to take him? Screw that, send him back to El Salvador CECOT prison where the Presdient of El Salvador said he would jail OUR prisoners for free.

Imagine if we could do that, send that piece of rat filth who stabbbed to death the college students was sent to CECOT standing in a cell 23 hours a day with 50 other animals. We did that, crime in the USA would be gone in a day.

If he turns that hell hole down, then the only real alternative is Russia where he can check out the latest in mafia cold weather wear or chose a nice cozy bunker on the frontline, far from annoying gangs seeking retribution.
