RFK Jr.: This is what led to CDC director’s firing

He told the Senate Finance Committee that Susan Monarez told him she was not ‘trustworthy.’

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he fired Susan Monarez from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention because she told him she was not “trustworthy.”

Kennedy’s comments came in response to questions from Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) during a Thursday hearing before the Senate Finance Committee about the agency’s plans. Warren had asked the secretary why he decided earlier this month to abruptly fire Monarez, then the CDC’s director, who was confirmed by the Senate in late July.

“I told her she had to resign because I asked her, ‘Are you a trustworthy person?’ and she said ‘No,’” Kennedy said.

Monarez wrote an opinion piece Thursday that, before she was fired, Kennedy asked her to “pre-approve” recommendations from a key panel of CDC advisers, which were chosen by Kennedy after he fired the committee’s entire membership.

“It is imperative that the panel’s recommendations aren’t rubber-stamped but instead are rigorously and scientifically reviewed before being accepted or rejected,” Monarez wrote.

In a statement, Monarez’s lawyers said that Kennedy’s claims are false and “patently ridiculous.”

“Dr. Monarez stands by what she said in her op-ed in The Wall Street Journal, would repeat it all under oath and continues to support the vision she outlined at her confirmation hearing that science will control her decisions,” wrote Mark S. Zaid and Abbe David Lowell.

It’s unclear whether Monarez will get to testify before Congress about her ouster. During the hearing, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), ranking member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, said he looks forward to Monarez coming before the HELP committee.

HELP Chair Bill Cassidy (R-La.) has not announced an investigation into Monarez’s firing, but he_wrote_on_X_that_the_incident,...

The fact she associates with those two is grounds for firing.

Science has to co-exist with math and freedom.

The science is often half-baked.

Science when combined with anything else is not science.

Her opinion piece is paywalled.

She could have posted it on a leftist blog website.

She’s not too bright IMO.

“Science when combined with anything else is not science.”

“Science when combined with” arrogance “is not science.”

“Science when combined with” blind faith “is not science.”

It's not paywalled for me.

You must be special.

The scientific method does not include bias. Science that claims as fact, the unprovable hypothesis that the vaccine saved millions of lives is pure BS.

“unprovable hypothesis that the vaccine saved millions of lives is pure BS.”
Exactly.
Democrat “science” is what they say it is.
They usurp the physician/patient relationship which is unethical and criminal.
Democrats prefer non-thinking, non-questioning clones for physicians.

“unprovable hypothesis”

There is a personality trait of those who seek scientific perfection that they don’t want to admit perfection is impossible.

When our bodies meet a challenge and our bodies struggle against the challenge our bodies become stronger. When drugs or anything removes the challenge our bodies do not benefit. Thus it is a game of balance and government scientist can’t admit balance vs absolute dominance of their solution to the problem.

Amen and I’d that science is a method, it has no opinions, no “consensus”, and no voice at all. It is not an objective, omniscient, arbitrating God to rule over us.

So RFK jr sets up a panel. As the Director he can do that.
The panel gives recommendations.

Susan Monterez doesn’t like the panel’s recommendation and demands the be scientifically reviewed. It sound like here is were the conflict started. RFK jr asked that she set up ‘rules to follow’ that all committee recommendations would have to be so vetted. Susan Monterez basically refused to follow that policy for other committees , and RFK jr asked if she could be trusted, and she said “No”.

Then he fired her.

Susan Monterez believes that she can follow recommendations of some panels without scrutiny (if she sets up the panels and likes the recommendations) but feels that she shouldn’t be fired for treating other committees different, undermine her boss, or following totally different processes for ‘liberal’ agenda items. This only proves she is a Democrat because “if it wasn’t for double standards they old have no standards”. She did fail as a Democrat when RFK jr asked if he could trust her and she told the truth.

They should just read that into the Congressional record and then start working on a balanced budget and approving Trumps trade deals.

The word “science” has lost its meaning.

In the name of science, we have trans people.

In the name of science, we had a Supreme Court nominee claim she could not define a woman.

In the name of science, we were forced to wear masks which provide no protection from viruses for over 2 years.

I could go on, but I think you get where I am going. Any time someone says “trust the science”, I don’t and won’t.

It’s frustrating, because anyone who says “trust the science” does not know what science is. They are misleading the public and giving science a bad name. It is not some oracle that can predict the future or is all-knowing. It is very often wrong, and takes a meandering path to find the truth if it does at all. It is a process, nothing more. But we have idiots in the world like Greta Thunberg who use the word like a weapon.
